I am a 2003 graduate of UWT and work for the National Park Service at Biscayne National Park, south of Miami. We are also protecting our turtle nests against poaching and predation. While I honestly did not read all of Ryan Moss's blog, the article that appeared in "Terrain" caught my eye. Whether its bad science or a poor choice of words is yet to be seen. The article states that Ryan joined scientists and educators in "returning turtle eggs to the sea". Sea turtles dig their egg chambers above the high water line to prevent them from being inundated with sea water. When the hatchlings do emerge, they dig their way out of the egg chamber to make their way down the beach and into the ocean. If Ryan's crew did as the "Terrain" stated, the turtle eggs would perish. I am surprised that UWT & The News Tribune let that inaccuracy escape their otherwise excellent journalistic scrutiny.
