Jocelyn and I had a class together. History of the Tudors in England with our favorite professor. She and I sat on opposite sides of the room, never talked and hardly recognized each other outside of class. We were put in a discussion group together, and we began to recognize each other around campus, see each other walking around and drop a casual "hi!". Second semester rolled around and we had another class together, this time it was badminton and it was terrible. She was the only person I recognized in the class, so we became partners, quickly discovering that we were the WORST team in the there, only winning one match the entire six weeks. We had fun though! We messed around, laughed hysterically and over this awful game, became friends. We invented another game because we were so bad at badminton, and it became badtennis. We made up rules then required everyone to follow them if they played us. Hit the birdie on a bounce was required. If it went through the basketball hoop, two points. If it went down the post, five points. If you could sit on the ground and hit it over the net, two points. She was the only reason I enjoyed going to class, and the reason why I'll never be able to walk into that gym without thinking of her and her laugh filling the entire space. You're missed Jocelyn.

Jocelyn was a dedicated staff member of the Eastside Boys and Girls Club!! My son (Ja'Ontay), ALL the kids and staff at the BGClub, and I (Timmie) will NEVER forget her smile and comforting presence she brought to the room. She was a light and inspiration to the people that was graced with her joy. WE love You Jocelyn, and you will truly be missed. "Only the Good Die Young" God Bless you're soul. Your family will be in my prayers.
