Lights & Sirens

The News Tribune's Lights & Sirens blog provides breaking news, updates on on-going investigations and insights into other news from the Tacoma, Pierce County and South Puget Sound criminal justice community. It also gives The News Tribune an avenue to interact with readers, answer “What was that?” questions and provides a venue for readers to ask about on-going criminal justice issues and problems in their neighborhoods. The blog aims to inform, educate and, at times, entertain with weird or wacky crime news.

Tacoma police and fire officials were at the scene this morning of a truck vs. bicyclist at South 15th Street and Pacific Avenue.

The bicyclist was headed eastbound on 15th Street and should have stopped at the red light on Pacific, Tacoma police reported.

The truck was headed south on Pacific and had the green light to go through the intersection.

The truck struck the cyclist just after 11:30 a.m. The cyclist was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor wrist injury, police reported.

Officers had the scene blocked off for a short period of time. The scene is now cleared.
