Well...now I understand why we haven't seen any news about the GEO Group Inc injunction against the City of Tacoma to prevent the release of documents to a citizen watchdog group.

Sunshine week starts March 15th and I sure would like to see a spotlight placed on the actions of, as thier attorney Joan Mell would say, our "good neighbor" on the Tarpits.

Now they also claim to control and own City of Tacoma property and intimidate the local citizens thats point out their lawlessness.

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2009/03/387473.shtml

Please...now that we have figured out the puzzles would you report the local news? Might go a long way in turning back that falling revenue.

This campaign just smelled from the moment the officers got involved. As a Public Official nee Public Servant they are require by the cannon of ethics to stay out of any political subject.
Speak out at a meeting of like-minded folks? Sure, but OUT of Uniform and no mention of your job title. Help post signs? Sure. Again out of uniform and with no "advertising" who you are, what you are supporting.
A Police uniform is the symbol of all things that guidance, peace and safety. If Police were seen doing the same thing at an abortion clinic, there would be no more bombings and murdered Physicians.

Good for you guys!!
Now, how about photos of flag-draped coffins arriving home from Iraq? Or post explosion debris from a suicide bomber?
If you had had some balls years ago, maybe the war would not have lasted as long as it has. Maybe, just maybe, you could have been the news agency that said "To hell with Bush, it's NEWS, DAMMIT". and made a difference.
But hey, better late than not at all.

I knew the TNT was dying when I realized I knew more former employees there than current, couple that with a shrinking product, lack of columnists and news content well I give them another year.

I would expect them to try harder rather than give up. What I've learned from this slow death is that eating my breakfast while getting my news from the computer isn't that odd. I have to search a little harder to get news on my blackberry but it's much more current that the 2 day old stories in the TNT. Perhaps old news is like day old bread, they get it cheaper.

There is nothing like the news print laid out on the breakfast table where you can turn each page and read the highlights and stories at will. I failed to renew my subscription a couple years ago and had my coffee in front of the computer for a few months. The navigation was difficult but I mastered it eventually. It is not the same as the news paper and the joy of relaxing before it was lost. I renewed my subscription and cherish my mornings with the paper. I was prompted to look over the new web page today and find it much easier to use now than before. You folks at the TNT should be proud of the new effort to keep up with internet technology. I will log in occasionally to re read articles lost when I recycle the printed page but, do not expect me to abandon the daily paper I find delivered each morning.
