Sounds like Pearl Jam's set at San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival was amazing based on Rolling Stone's report. I'm kind of worried about the line about Eddie Vedder's vocal chords being "shredded" by recent touring, though. Here's hoping he's well rested by time the band gets to KeyArena on Sept. 21.
In case you missed out on tickets for Pearl Jam's Sept. 21 and 22 shows at KeyArena, the band just announced two more Northwest dates. The Seattle rock titans will headline General Motors Place in Vancouver, B.C. on Sept. 25 and the Clark County Amphitheatre in Vancouver, Wash., on Sept. 26.
Find out more about the tour and Pearl Jam's forthcoming album, "Backspacer," due Sept. 20, on the band's fan site.
If you follow this blog, you know when and where Pearl Jam is playing in Seattle this fall. (If not, click here, slacker.) And Live Nation just released ticket details.
Prices are set at $68, and they go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday (July 18.) Of course, there's a special pre-sale for members PJ's Ten Club, which started on Monday. Check the band's fan site for info on signing up.
Pearl Jam will kick off their world tour with a two-night stand at Seattle's KeyArena on Sept. 21 and 22, the band announced today. Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 have been tapped for support.
Tickets for the Seattle shows will go on sale on July 18.
The tour will begin a day after the scheduled release of Pearl Jam's forthcoming album, "Backspacer." In an arrangement that echoes similar deals inked by AC/DC and Guns N' Roses, the new disc will be retailed exclusively through Target, according to today's press release.
Find more info on the band's fan site.
Pearl Jam is Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Eddie Vedder and Matt Cameron. (Hey, where's Boom Gaspar?)
DANNY CLINCH
Pearl Jam performed a private concert at Seattle’s Showbox late last week for a Target ad filmed by Singles director Cameron Crowe, Rolling Stone reports. More here.
Sure, most of the headlines were about Conan O'Brien taking over the "Tonight Show" last night. But a bigger deal, as far as I'm concerned, is that Pearl Jam dropped some new tunes. In case you missed it (like me) Rolling Stone has the skinny.
Conan O'Brien takes over NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show" on June 1, and Seattle rock heroes Pearl Jam will help him celebrate the occasion. So will Will Ferrell who hopefully isn't out promoting another horrible sports comedy coming out this year. I still want my money back from "Semi-Pro." More details on Pearl Jam's fan site.
Rolling Stone's got a must-read report about an Atlanta robbery involving Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. Click here. The band is working on its next album in Atlanta with producer Brendan O'Brien. And let's hope Jeff's OK and they catch the losers that robbed him before they hurt somebody else.
I'd hoped Eddie Vedder might show up to support his buds in X during the legendary punk outfit's two-night stand at Showbox at the Market last year. (X's John Doe told the crowd that Ed was sick, in case you didn't make it.) And I kind of wondered if Pearl Jam's mouthpiece might surface for the Knitters, X's Americana-flavored side project, which headlined the Tractor Tavern last night. Well, this report from the show removed all doubt.
Any of you guys catch it? Any details you want to add that Rolling Stone missed?

Today, Pearl Jam announced a forthcoming reissue of its smash 1991 debut, "Ten," to be released on March 24, 2009. The reissue will include the original recording, a remastered version of the album, remixes by producer Brendan O'Brien and demo versions of "Alive," "Once" and "Footsteps" from a long-lost cassette called "Momma-Son."
“The band loved the original mix of Ten, bu were also interested in what it would sound like if I were to deconstruct and remix it,” said O’Brien, quoted in a related press release. “The original Ten sound is what millions of people bought, dug and loved, so I was initially hesitant to mess around with that. After years of persistent nudging from the band, I was able to wrap my head around the idea of offering it as a companion piece to the original – giving a fresh take on it, a more direct sound.”
The deluxe versions of the band's debut will be available in four packages, and are part of a planned 20th anniversary reissue series. Descriptions of the four packages available for pre-order through the band's web site, taken from the press release:

Just got this in an e-mail from Pearl Jam's publicist:
SEATTLE - Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready will take part in two benefit concerts this month to raise funding and awareness for stand out local non-profit organizations – Soulumination and All-Access After-School.
McCready joins Dave Dederer (Presidents of the United States of America), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) and members of the Dusty 45’s - performing together as “Bison” in Skiffle - a fundraiser for All-Access After-School at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center on Thursday, August 21st. Doors are at 6PM. Concert begins at 7PM. $25 suggested donation at the door. Also performing that evening will be the Boogilistics, Camille Bloom & Recovery, Scribes and artists from All Access partner organizations – Arts Corps, Rock School and the Service Board. Earlier that day, eight teams comprised of community leaders, local artists and the performing bands will create a work of art of blank canvases – including guitars and basses. These masterpieces will be auctioned off during the concert.
Shadow 86' Jimi Hendrix Tribute featuring Mike McCready and special guests will also headline an early show benefit for Soulumination at Seattle's Tractor Tavern on Wednesday, August 27th. Performance begins at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.tractortavern.com and Sonic Boom Records. $12 in advance ($15 at the door).
Pearl Jam? Flight to Mars? Shadow '86? And now Bison? Say, how many bands is m'man Mike in, anwyay?
If you've seen Pearl Jam in concert more than a couple of times, odds are you've seen the boys cover "Baba O'Riley" or "Love Reign O'er Me," among other Who cuts. And RollingStone.com has a nice piece on Eddie Vedder talking about the impression the Who made on him as a kid. Read it here. here. It's connected with PJ's participation in VH1's Rock Honors tribute to the Who.
