This week: PGA Tour's Wachovia Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Quail Hollow CC, Charlotte, N.C.
First round score: 3-over 75.
Position: Putnam (tied for 122nd) trails leader David Toms (5-under 67) by eight strokes.
Recap: Putnam, the Tacoma native, was one of the last golfers to go out Thursday, and started poorly (bogeys on first two holes) and stumbled at the end (bogeys on Nos. 16 and 18). Blame it on his ball-striking (hit five of 14 fairways, and 10 of 18 greens in regulation).
Tee time Friday: 6 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
This week: PGA Tour's Wachovia Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Quail Hollow CC, Charlotte, N.C.
First round score: Even-par 72.
Position: Moore (tied for 48th) trails leader David Toms (5-under 67) by five strokes
Recap: Moore, the Puyallup product, wasn't as sharp as the last time he teed it up for the final round of the Byron Nelson Championship, but considering he only hit 11 of 18 greens in regulation, he relied on nifty up-and-downs to shoot a 72. He did it on the par-4 ninth (his final hole) by hitting a 42-yard wedge shot close, and making a 4-foot putt for par.
Tee time Friday: 10:30 a.m. PDT off the first tee.
