This week: Nationwide Tour's Children's Hospital, Thursday through Sunday, The Ohio State University Scarlet Course, Columbus, Ohio.

First-round score: 2-under-par 69.

Position: Putnam is tied for 10th, two strokes behind co-leaders Kelly Grunewald, Bill Lunde and Bryce Molder.

Recap: An all-around solid day by the Tacoma native, on one of the most difficult courses the tour goes to during the season. Putnam hit 12 of 14 fairways (No. 2 in the field), and two birdies on par-5s (Nos. 5 and 12), and finished up with another birdie on the par-4 ninth. It is the third time in the past four tournaments that Putnam has started with a round in the 60s.

Tee time Friday: 4:20 a.m. PDT off the first tee.
