This week: Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic, Thursday through Sunday, Champions Run, Omaha. Neb.

First-round score: 4-under-par 67.

Position: Putnam is tied for 21st, four strokes behind leader D.A. Points (63)

Recap: Once again, the Tacoma golfer was a birdie-making machine – his seven ranks No. 2 in the field. Oddly enough, none of his birdies came on par-5s. He did double bogey the par-4 second hole, one of the few holes where he did not hit the green in regulation (hit 15 of 18 in his round).

Tee time Friday: 11:05 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
