The decision was looming, and Gig Harbor's Kyle Stanley wanted to get it out of the way months in advance.

Stanley will turn professional after his junior golf season at Clemson concludes in June.

From a golf standpoint, the decision isn't shocking. He is coming off a consistent summer in which he captured the Southern Amateur for a second time, and was one stroke out of making the cut at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego.

"The biggest factor, I needed to see if I was ready, and I feel like I am," Stanley said.
