This week: PGA Tour's Northern Trust Open, Thursday through Sunday, Riviera Country Club, Los Angeles.

First-round score: 3-under-par 68.

Position: Moore is in a group at 21st, five strokes behind leader, and defending champion Phil Mickelson (63).

Recap: The UNLV product from Puyallup matched his best opening round of the season (shot 68 at the Bob Hope Classic), and continues to be one of the better golfers on tour in par-3 scoring (12 birdies in 56 holes). His 9-iron on the 152-yard, par-3 sixth stopped close, and he made a 7-foot putt for birdie. Moore hit it even closer on the 161-yard, par-3 16th, and sank a 5-footer for birdie. He had five birdies on his round.

Tee time Friday: 7 a.m. PST off Riviera CC's 10th tee.
