This week: Nationwide Tour's Athens Regional Foundation Classic, Thursday through Sunday, Jennings Mill Country Club, Athens, Ga.
First-round score: 2-under-par 70.
Position: Putnam will likely hover around the top 20 as afternoon play concludes.
Recap: What length off the tee can do for a golfer on a shorter course. All four of the Tacoma product's birdies came on the par-5 holes (Nos. 2, 7, 14, and 18).
Tee time Friday: 11:10 a.m. PDT off the first tee.
