This week: PGA Tour's Frys.com Open, Thursday through Sunday, Grayhawk Golf Club, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Third-round score: 3-under-par 67.
Position: Moore (12-under 198) is tied for fifth with four other golfers. Troy Matteson (195) holds a three-stroke lead.
Recap: The Puyallup golfer's day immediately hit a speed bump when he three-putted from 40 feet on the opening hole for a bogey. He then settled down to make the turn at 1-under, then almost holed out a sand wedge on the par-4 14th for an eagle. His approach stopped seven inches from the cup for a tap-in birdie, and he followed with another one on the next hole.
Tee time Sunday: 10:50 a.m. PDT with Rickie Fowler and Nick O'Hern.
This week: PGA Tour's Frys.com Open, Thursday through Sunday, Grayhawk Golf Club, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Second-round score: 5-under-par 65.
Position: Moore (9-under 131) is tied for fourth, two strokes behind co-leaders Rickie Fowler and Greg Owen (129).
Recap: Hmm … could he make noise toward a second victory in his final PGA Tour event in 2009. Sure seems that way. A clean scorecard (five birdies, no bogeys) had another sudden surge (three birdies in a row at Nos. 11-13), and another birdie on the difficult 515-yard, par-4 18th where he canned an 11-foot putt.
Tee time Saturday: 11:05 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Nick O'Hern and Chris Stroud.
This week: PGA Tour's Frys.com Open, Thursday through Sunday, Grayhawk Golf Club, Scottsdale, Ariz.
First-round score: 4-under-par 66.
Position: Moore is tied for sixth, three strokes behind leader Nick O'Hern (63).
Recap: Nice start for the Puyallup golfer playing in his final PGA Tour stop this season. He made four birdies in a five-hole stretch (Nos. 14, 15, 17, 18), and was at 5-under late his round before an untimely two-putt bogey at the par-4 seventh.
Tee time Friday: 7:16 a.m. PDT off the first tee.
This week: PGA Tour's Frys.com Open, Thursday through Sunday, Grayhawk Golf Club, Scottsdale, Ariz.
World ranking: 75th.
2009 earnings: $2,087,871 (34th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: The Puyallup golfer notched his fifth top-10 finish Sunday at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (16-under 268, tied-for-seventh) – and first since winning the Wyndham Championship in August. And just like last week in Las Vegas, he travels to a course he should know fairly well – the Raptor Course – since north Scottsdale is where he owns a house, just 10 minutes from the course. And he's won on this course before as a teenager – the AJGA Thunderbird International. This is Moore's last PGA Tour appearance of 2009.
Tee time Thursday: 11:41 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee with Charley Hoffman and Rory Sabbatini.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's fourth-round score: 3-under-par 68.
Stanley's fourth-round score: 2-under 69.
Position: Moore (16-under 268) finished tied for seventh, and Stanley was in a pack in 27th (12-under 272).
Recap: Three back-nine birdies rallied Moore, of Puyallup, to his fifth top-10 finish of the season, and got him over the $2 million earnings in a season for the first time in his career. … Stanley, of Gig Harbor, finished with enough birdies for the week (22, tied for 11th), but he had his third double bogey on the tournament Sunday. If a final sponsor's exemption can't be found, Stanley will play in the second stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School next month in Texas.
Next: Moore will be at the Fyrs.com Open starting Thursday near his winter home in Scottsdale, Ariz. at Grayhawk Golf Club.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's third-round score: 1-under-par 70.
Stanley's third-round score: 4-under 67.
Position: Moore (13-under 200) is tied for 11th, and Stanley (10-under 203) is in a group in 25th. Rookie Scott Piercy and second-round co-leader Chad Campbell lead at 196.
Recap: A third-hole birdie lifted Moore into a share of the lead – briefly. After that, the contenders took off, and the Puyallup golfer leveled off. Back-to-back bogeys on the eighth and ninth holes – including a three-putt at par-5 No. 9 – hurt. He was 1-over on his round until finishing up with birdies at Nos. 15 and 16. … Stanley has done something this week that his Pierce County counterpart hasn't – post three rounds in the 60s. He had a clean scorecard with four birdies and no bogeys – all on putts of 7 feet or closer.
Moore's tee time Sunday: 10:10 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Greg Chalmers and Rickie Fowler.
Stanley's tee time Sunday: 9:20 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Tim Herron and Dean Wilson.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's second-round score: 8-under-par 63.
Stanley's second-round score: 2-under 69.
Position: Moore (12-under 130) is tied for second, and Stanley (6-under 136) is tied for 41st. Chad Campbell and Troy Matteson are co-leaders (129).
Recap: An eagle on the par-5 16th – his seventh hole – really got Moore going, as he drained four birdies on his final nine holes for his bogey-free 63. … A couple double bogeys didn't deter Stanley from making the cut, because he had six birdies in his second round.
Moore's tee time Saturday: 10:40 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Bob Heintz and Martin Laird.
Stanley's tee time Saturday: 9:20 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee with Daniel Chopra and Steve Elkington.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's first-round score: 4-under-par 67.
Stanley's first-round score: 4-under 67.
Position: Moore and Stanley are tied for 26th, five strokes behind co-leaders Tom Pernice, Jr. and Troy Matteson (62).
Recap: A birdie-birdie finish, including one on the par-4 finishing holes where he canned a 13-foot putt, put Moore, of Puyallup, in good position after the first day. He knows this course extremely well as a former collegiate star at UNLV. … Stanley used a six-birdie-in-eight-hole binge (Nos. 9 through 16) to go from 1-over to near the lead.
Moore's tee time Friday: 11:58 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
Stanley's tee time Friday: 1:05 p.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
World rankings: Moore is 79th; Stanley 683rd.
Moore's 2009 earnings: $1,974,171 (36th on the PGA Tour).
Stanley's 2009 earnings: $105,808 (206th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: Moore, of Puyallup, is still in search of that final paycheck that will push him over the $2 million for the first time in his career. He didn't get it at Turning Stone Resort Championship (even-par 144) two weeks ago after a 31/2-week layoff through the remainder of the FedEx Cup playoffs. … It's been even longer since Stanley, of Gig Harbor, has played in a PGA Tour event – late August at the Wyndham Championship where he missed the cut (4-over 144). This week, he is playing on his final sponsor's exemption.
Moore's tee time Thursday: 7:28 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Chad Campbell and Jerry Kelly.
Stanley's tee time Thursday: 8:35 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Brendon de Jonge and Jarrod Lyle.
