This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's third-round score: 1-under-par 70.
Stanley's third-round score: 4-under 67.
Position: Moore (13-under 200) is tied for 11th, and Stanley (10-under 203) is in a group in 25th. Rookie Scott Piercy and second-round co-leader Chad Campbell lead at 196.
Recap: A third-hole birdie lifted Moore into a share of the lead – briefly. After that, the contenders took off, and the Puyallup golfer leveled off. Back-to-back bogeys on the eighth and ninth holes – including a three-putt at par-5 No. 9 – hurt. He was 1-over on his round until finishing up with birdies at Nos. 15 and 16. … Stanley has done something this week that his Pierce County counterpart hasn't – post three rounds in the 60s. He had a clean scorecard with four birdies and no bogeys – all on putts of 7 feet or closer.
Moore's tee time Sunday: 10:10 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Greg Chalmers and Rickie Fowler.
Stanley's tee time Sunday: 9:20 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Tim Herron and Dean Wilson.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's second-round score: 8-under-par 63.
Stanley's second-round score: 2-under 69.
Position: Moore (12-under 130) is tied for second, and Stanley (6-under 136) is tied for 41st. Chad Campbell and Troy Matteson are co-leaders (129).
Recap: An eagle on the par-5 16th – his seventh hole – really got Moore going, as he drained four birdies on his final nine holes for his bogey-free 63. … A couple double bogeys didn't deter Stanley from making the cut, because he had six birdies in his second round.
Moore's tee time Saturday: 10:40 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Bob Heintz and Martin Laird.
Stanley's tee time Saturday: 9:20 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee with Daniel Chopra and Steve Elkington.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
Moore's first-round score: 4-under-par 67.
Stanley's first-round score: 4-under 67.
Position: Moore and Stanley are tied for 26th, five strokes behind co-leaders Tom Pernice, Jr. and Troy Matteson (62).
Recap: A birdie-birdie finish, including one on the par-4 finishing holes where he canned a 13-foot putt, put Moore, of Puyallup, in good position after the first day. He knows this course extremely well as a former collegiate star at UNLV. … Stanley used a six-birdie-in-eight-hole binge (Nos. 9 through 16) to go from 1-over to near the lead.
Moore's tee time Friday: 11:58 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
Stanley's tee time Friday: 1:05 p.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
This week: PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nev.
World rankings: Moore is 79th; Stanley 683rd.
Moore's 2009 earnings: $1,974,171 (36th on the PGA Tour).
Stanley's 2009 earnings: $105,808 (206th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: Moore, of Puyallup, is still in search of that final paycheck that will push him over the $2 million for the first time in his career. He didn't get it at Turning Stone Resort Championship (even-par 144) two weeks ago after a 31/2-week layoff through the remainder of the FedEx Cup playoffs. … It's been even longer since Stanley, of Gig Harbor, has played in a PGA Tour event – late August at the Wyndham Championship where he missed the cut (4-over 144). This week, he is playing on his final sponsor's exemption.
Moore's tee time Thursday: 7:28 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Chad Campbell and Jerry Kelly.
Stanley's tee time Thursday: 8:35 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Brendon de Jonge and Jarrod Lyle.
This week: PGA Tour's Turning Stone Resort Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Atunyote Golf Club, Verona, N.Y.
World ranking: 76th.
2009 earnings: $1,974,171 (35th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: The Puyallup golfer had a nice 21/2-week break after being eliminating at the penultimate stop in the FedEx Cup playoffs at the BMW Championship (tied for 30th, 2-over 286). He had played four consecutive tournaments before the break, starting with his win at the Wyndham Championship in late August.
Tee time Thursday: 9:25 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee with Todd Hamilton and Mark Wilson.
This week: PGA Tour's BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
Fourth-round score: 3-under-par 68.
Position: Moore (2-over 286) finished tied for 30th behind winner Tiger Woods.
Recap: The Puyallup golfer posted one of the day's best rounds (five birdies, two bogeys), including a near-ace on the 219-yard, par-3 sixth. He ended up making a 31/2-footer for birdie, then finished off his round with a final one on the par-5 ninth. Moore did not advance to the Tour Championship starting Sept. 24 in Atlanta.
Next: Turning Stone Resort Championship starting Oct. 1 in Verona, N.Y.
This week: PGA Tour's BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
Third-round score: 4-over-par 75.
Position: Moore (5-over 218) is tied for 53rd, 21 strokes behind leader Tiger Woods (197).
Recap: Unless Moore comes up with a final round close to the magical "59," his stay in the FedEx Cup playoffs will end Sunday (Woods did have a 62 on Saturday … so it can happen). The place he needs to be to advance is in the top 12 – at 208 – which is nine strokes in front of him. Sort of typical of his day Saturday, he couldn't get out of the rough on the par-4 13th, hit his fourth shot so wayward, it went out of bounds behind the green, and he ended up walking off with a quadruple bogey.
Tee time Sunday: 6:34 a.m. PDT with Paul Goydos.
This week: PGA Tour's BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
Second-round score: 1-over-par 72.
Position: Moore (1-over 143) is tied for 35th, eight strokes behind co-leaders Tiger Woods and Mark Wilson (135).
Recap: Too many early bogeys – five of them, in fact – for the Puyallup golfer, who needs to move up at least 20 spots to get in position to advance to the final tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs, the Tour Championship in Atlanta. Moore had five front-nine bogeys (Nos. 1, 3, 5, 6, 9), with three of them on holes he played approach shots out of the sand bunker. He did finish up with three birdies, including one on a two-putt from 30 feet on the par-5 15th, the easiest hole on the course.
Tee time Saturday: 7:55 a.m. PDT with Steve Marino.
This week: PGA Tour's BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
First-round score: Even-par 71.
Position: Moore is tied for 29th, five strokes behind co-leaders Steve Marino and Rory Sabbatini (66).
Recap: Up and down, round and round – that is the best way to sum up the Puyallup golfer's day. After a double bogey on the par-3 second – his 11th hole – Moore sat at 2-over. Then he rallied with three birdies in a four-hole stretch (Nos. 4, 5 and 7) – two on 15-foot putts – to move to 1-under before finding trouble around the green on the par-5 ninth, leading to a finishing bogey.
Tee time Friday: 8:30 a.m. off the first tee.
This week: PGA Tour's BMW Championship, Thursday through Sunday, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, Lemont, Ill.
World ranking: 78th.
2009 earnings: $1,930,577 (29th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: After his tied-for-70th finish to begin the FedEx Cup playoffs, and missing the cut at last week's Deutsch Bank Championship (even-par 142), he sits at 48th in the points – and needs a high finish to get into the Tour Championship in Atlanta. What will it take? The Moore camp thinks, worst-case, he needs a top-10 finish to secure a spot among the top 30 – and also a berth to the 2010 WGC-CA Championships at Doral Golf Resort. Moore has played this event once before, in 2007, when he placed tied-for-18th.
Tee time Thursday: 8:36 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee with Bill Haas and Matt Kuchar.
This week: PGA Tour's Deutsche Bank Championship, Thursday through Sunday, TPC Boston, Norton, Mass.
First-round score: 1-over-par 72.
Position: Moore is tied for 76th, nine strokes behind co-leaders Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker (63).
Recap: A pair of double bogeys in the first five holes put the Puyallup golfer quickly in a hole. It took two shots to get out of greenside rough on the par-3 third for one double bogey, and the other came two holes later, a par-4 and the most difficult hole on the course, he hit his drive so far right, he had to take a penalty stroke. Moore rallied with birdies on the sixth and seventh holes.
Tee time Saturday: 9:46 a.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
This week: PGA Tour's Deutsche Bank Championship, Friday through Monday, TPC Boston, Norton, Mass.
World ranking: 75th.
2009 earnings: $1,930,577 (26th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: Moore finished tied for 70th at The Barclays (8-over-par 292) in the first event of the Fed Ex Cup playoffs. Subsequently, he feel 13 spots in the points ladder, to 35 – and still comfortably in reach of reaching The Tour Championship in late September in Atlanta. The Puyallup golfer is still in line for setting a personal-best scoring average (70.74 strokes), eclipsing the 70.69 set in 2005.
Tee time Friday: 5:16 a.m. PDT off the first tee with Anthony Kim and Justin Leonard.
