The Rangers made a few roster moves before the game, activating tonight's starting pitcher Kason Gabbard from the disabled list, along with infielder Travis Metcalfe. They optioned AJ Murray to Triple A Oklahoma City, while designating Ben Broussard for assignment. It's amazing how far Broussard fell in the Rangers' eyes and how fast. He was supposed to be an everyday starter for them, now he's looking for a job. Broussard was hitting just .159 with three home runs and 8 RBI and was basically replaced by Frank Catalanotto at first. GAME THOUGHTS START HERE: 9:39 -- 9:05 -- all of that brouhaha and posturing won't mean as much if the Mariners don't put up a fight in this game. Sexson is going to be suspended. I wonder if because he used his helmet it will be longer, like 8 games or so. 8:33 -- Maybe there is a pulse to this MAriners team afterall 8:23 -- Ian kinsler is not happy about getting hit by Felix there. His stare down needs some work. Hey good for Felix, the guy hits a bomb off you, you don't have your best stuff, stick one inside and send a message. 8:01 -- Down 4-0, I wonder how many fans have turned the channel at this point. 7:44 -- So much of what Felix does is based on emotion and that one little confrontation with home plate umpire Chad Fairchild over the swing and the miss has clearly bothered him. He lost his focus on Kinsler and left a pitch out to be hit. 7:37 -- on the list of things I never want to have happen to me, getting hit by a Felix fastball on any part of my body is right up there. 7:19 -- Wow, that was not to good of a throw there by Raul. He doesn't have a great arm, but that wasn't a good effort there. It looked on replay like he might not have had a good grip on the ball. And Felix well on his way to another 30 pitch first inning.

Just for the record, I got no particular problem with a batter charging the mound when the situation calls. Heck, I'm a hockey fan, so... Throwing your HELMET at the pitcher though is a busher, pansy move. You go to the mound to throw a punch, not your lid.
If I had any respect for Sexson, it would have been gone now. Jerk.
I'll tell you this richie sexson was stupid. That ball wasnt even close and I just saw it on channel 2 sport news. Richie sexson should have just went to 1st base and take it like a freakin man. He should be worry about Jeff Clement and how that guy take his job away from him.
YOur batting .200 you should be fight you should be getting your average up and try to help your team win the game. what a freakin idiot. 5-0 tonight, 2-0 lost, 10-1 lost, 3 straight loss and you expect to compete with white sox who are warming up.... Seattle Mariners right now are 3 win/4 loss against texas with 7 games being total.
I am all for throwing the helmet.. why not? The guy threw a ball at you.. I played tons of baseball, and when tempers flair, cooler minds don't prevail.. Hit him in the f'n face and at least once in the kidneys so he pisses blood.
I'm just happy to see some life in this team, even if we still got shut out by a dismal Rangers team and by a no-name starter just a few hours removed from the DL..
So Snydro, helmet is ok, why not the bat? And the dude didn't even really throw at him, the friggin' ball was over the plate. Richie's claims of being in a rage are bogus, he was ready to charge ... he admitted he knew it was coming. The charge was totally premeditated and bogus. Even Richie admitted throwing the helmet was chicken bleep.
Again, that ball was not even close. The batting cages at Point Defiance come in tighter than that. My favorite mound charge of all time was when Robin Ventura charged Nolan Ryan after being plunked with a 95+ MPH fastball, circa early '90's. Ryan (45 years old at the time) waits for Ventura, puts him in a headlock and starts pounding away. That is the way men fight. Not wussies wielding helmets.
