No, nothing of import has happened here at the St. Regis resort yet, but rumors continue to float around and the business of baseball never sleeps.

Manny Ramirez and agent Scott Boras have floated an asking price for Manny’s services that begins at $27 million a season, and no one is certain he won’t get it. To put it in perspective, Milwaukee just re-signed center fielder Mike Cameron at $10 millon for one season.

San Diego is shopping ace Jake Peavy, but in trying to get their payroll down, they’ve also hinted that shortstop Khalil Green is available. Boston is offering the services of outfielder Coco Crisp.

Raul Ibanez can’t talk contract with another team until Nov. 14, but that hasn’t stopped the Cubs and Mets from telling him they’re interested. That doesn’t bode well for the Mariners keeping him.

Detroit is willing to listen to offers for outfielder Magglio Ordonez, and among the things the Tigers want is a closer – and the name of J.J. Putz has come up.

And here’s an note of interest: Kansas City has named former Mariner Miguel Olivo as its starting catcher in 2009.

Who knows? There may be more later in the day.

The fact that Raul and Washburn were not traded just shows you what incompetent idiots run the show in Seattle. Hopefully the newest bald guy they brought in to turn things around can do two things...

1- Develop a roster that can win.

2- Convince Lee Pelekoudas to get rid of that awful rug. It looks terrible, and he should be proud of his baldness, as Bavasi and Chrome Dome 2 are. If Lee had gone with the Kojak look I'm convinced he would have had a much better shot at the job.

Thanks for so much insight Larry, I am getting much more updates here then anywhere else. What an exciting off season we have, and i cant wait to see what direction the M's take in many categories...

shark - don't know what you don't like about pelekoudas, but his hair is all his.

No way Larry.... NO WAY.

I like Lee and I'm glad he stuck around. I never said I didn't like him. I was pointing out that this is the second time in a row they have gone with a baldy for the GM position so by wearing a toupee Lee has diminished his chances of getting the GM job.

If that thing isn't a rug, then it has to be hair plugs or a hair club for men weave in special. I refuse to believe that Lee hasn't had some work done on his head.

Would the Mariners really trade Putz, Im all for it.... But he is a fan fav in Seattle? And if he ended up going to the Tigers what would the M's get in return? Is there anything JJ worthy in MO-Town?
Larry LaRue @ 15:46 - Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 Email
snod - what you and i might deem j.j. worthy and what the mariners and their new GM might see could be completely different.
mariners could be looking for a lot of minor league talent close to the big leagues...

You know Lee.... but how do you know so much about his hair? Does he give you styling tips? Haha.

Keep up the good work Larry. Are you 100% heading to the winter meetings? It should be interesting what happens there at the very least.

Is a Matt Joyce, & Nate Robertson (or Casey Crosby) - JJ swap Logical... The reason I'm thinking they sould get rid of him is the possiblity of Fields pulling a Paplebon/Morrow? And I mean why not, I watched that kid pitch for Georgia and he is flat out nasty mid/high 90's with a flat out hook that reminds me of Ben Sheets
chucko24 @ 06:17 - Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 Email
Are we any closer to signing our numberone pick...The kid from Georgia? Seems that would be a logical first move for teh new regime. Just Get 'er done
