In response to: Is Bedard's future in Seattle? No one seems to know

Bedard going back to Seattle at a buy low salary (that has incentives that could push it up to where he was at in 09) makes sense. Some kind of mutual option year.

In response to: Goodbye to a baseball man, Lee Pelekoudas

When I first read the headline, I thought he had died. Glad that's not the case!!
He will be missed in Seattle.

In response to: Goodbye to a baseball man, Lee Pelekoudas

He should just retire and call it a career.. Take the rest of his years and spend it with the family. Anyone who works in upper management for an MLB team should be set with the $$$$$$ they have earned over the years!

In response to: Silva will pitch Tuesday - but not for the Rainiers

I realize that the M's are paying him big bucks and expect him to give them some productivity, I just don't like seeing him anywhere near a pitching mound (or buffet table for that matter).

I realize they're paying him big bucks and do expect him to return (was he ever there) to giving them some productivity, but I get that same feeling with Silva as with Batista (who has been acceptable this year). I just don't like it.

In response to: The international Ichiro watch continues at Safeco Field

tomiron24- Where did you get your insider knowledge of Ichiro's condition. Are you one of the trainers? I was wondering about Branyan's back. Is it really a herniated disk, or is he going to be able to play again?

In response to: The international Ichiro watch continues at Safeco Field

Larry, thank you very much for the Ichiro updates.
Wak is being way too cautious with our ironman. It's really depressing, lineup after lineup and no Ichiro in it. Enough is enough!!

In response to: No Ichiro, no Junior - not even Dustin Ackley tonight

The way this season is going, putting Ackley in left for a game would actually be amusing!!

I love it, they don't want Da bull to "Jeopardize the R's" but they're going to let the overpaid jacka$$ pitch for the M's......................

I'm shocked, shocked I say, that Dave had a comment about the Greinke game. Shocked.

In response to: Game #131: The Mariners turn on their ... power?

Dave- Greinke only had 101 pitches to start the 9th and appeared in good health-as opposed to Felix who in the last couple of games has had the flu or
leg cramps. Please give it a break. Somehow I trust Wak's judgement on pitching more than your opinion. One of you has actually been a catcher in professional leagues and a coach.

In response to: Game #131: The Mariners turn on their ... power?

A great pitching performance is great to watch, no matter which team is playing. Especially because they are so rarely allowed today. How about that Zack Greinke? I’m sure Larue and his followers are appalled that he was allowed to go 9. Surely someone should have come in for the hold and the bogus 9th inning save. Those who truly believe that lack a basic understanding of the game, of historical perspective, statistics, and comparing players over eras. It’s too bad Wak man won’t let Felix go 9. We’ll never know if he’ll be as good as Greinke

Larry, thanks. I mostly mentioned Shelton & LaHair because I've gotten the impression that the organization is down on Carp.

In response to: Game #131: The Mariners turn on their ... power?

moo - carp will up tuesday when rosters expand. shelton and lahair, probably not. the reasoning is simple: if they're not going to play, why have them here? carp will get branyan's septemer at-bats. shelton and lahair don't appear to have a future in the organization.

In response to: Game #131: The Mariners turn on their ... power?

Larry (or Ryan), Any idea why the M's aren't even considering bringing up Carp, LaHair or Shelton to be the everyday 1b with Branyan's out? I saw a tv interview with Wak today where he appeared to be saying that the ONLY Sept call ups they're considering are bullpen.

I'd think they'd want to find out if we already have our 2010 1b, or if we need to sign someone. All 3 of the above have had strong years in Tacoma.........

In response to: Branyan down, and could be out for the season

Bummer. Reminds me of another good player in the 70's with the White Sox, Bill Melton. He put together some strong years with good power, and his career was cut short with a herniated disk. Maybe surgery techniques are better today, and he can come back next year.
