Ron Weigelt will be running as a Democrat. His news release doesn't say so, but I think he's running against Rep. Dan Roach, Republican incumbent.

Here's his biography:

Current Occupation/Employer: Human Resources Manager for the Public Health Department.

[More:]

Significant career experience: Previous experience includes Adult Education Instructor for Central Texas College, Patient Account Representative for a hospital emergency room, United States military service as an Enlisted Rank and as an Honorably Discharged Officer, seven years experience as a Labor Contract Negotiator.

Elected experience: Currently serving a second term as a City Council Member. Past Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee and currently Chairperson of the Streets, Sidewalks, & Storm Drain Committee.

Education: Masters Degree in Public Administration and Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification.

Family: Married to Jane Barsi, two children, one grandchild.

Statement:

I believe that by working together we can improve our schools, our communities, and our government itself. We do have the power to shape our future. We can create and implement an agenda that will result in jobs that will support a family, pensions for our senior years, and medical coverage which we can rely on. I will work hard on issues our district cares about including: education, public safety, transportation, jobs and the environment. As a city council member I have always placed community priorities over political partisanship, I will do the same working in Olympia.
