If we learned one thing in Week 7, it is this: Skyline is good. Really good.
The top-ranked Spartans walloped previously third-ranked Issaquah 38-0 last week. The Eagles were without a couple key players, but it didn't appear that it mattered.
Skyline's defense has allowed only eight points this season -- the first-string has not allowed any points. The Spartans play Redmond this week before facing Crown Division champion Bothell for the KingCo Championship on Oct. 31.
A few notes about this week's rankings:
-- Kentwood's 24-7 win over Federal Way knocked the Eagles out of the Class 4A Top 10. Taking Federal Way's place is Bothell, which has won five straight since starting 0-2 with losses to Bellevue and Issaquah.
-- Despite losing 27-24 to Ferris, Central Valley remains at No. 6. I couldn't justify dropping them simply because they lost a close game to a very good team.
-- In the 3A rankings, the top seven teams stayed put. Liberty and O'Dea swapped spots because the Irish lost 17-14 in double-overtime to No. 7 Eastside Catholic. Also, Hanford takes North Kitsap's spot at No. 10.
-- All 10 teams in the 2A rankings won, so there are no changes.
-- Montesano took over the No. 3 spot in the 1A rankings after shutting out previous No. 3 Forks, 19-0. Castle Rock and Cascade (Leavenworth) flipped spots.
