The Prep Blog
The preps blog is designed to fill in the gaps of our high school sports coverage, providing insight into some of the stories and projects we are pursuing, and to serve as a forum to talk about some of the significant high school sports stories happening in our community.

Doug Pacey joined The News Tribune in 2007 after covering prep sports at The Bellingham Herald for five years. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1998 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 2002. E-mail Doug.

The third and final day of our in-depth basketball previews ran today. We're featuring the Nisqually League, Evergreen Conference and local 2B and 1B schools.

Here's a link to our feature on center John Gage of top-ranked Vashon, along with capsule previews of the Nisqually and EvCo boys.

Here's a link to our feature on the Black Hills girls team, which is aiming to unseat two-time defendinf champion River Ridge, and capsule previews of the EvCo and Nisqually girls.

Here's a peek at the South Sound's 2B and 1B schools.

Finally, here are our rankings for Class 2A and 1A.

Are you serious? I know its early but common now...
First whats with elma that standsout they lost to Aberdeen... They are the worst team in the EVCO and River Ridge lost to Hoquiam...Joey wayman 34 points Drizzle Adams 10 points 8 boards and a late charge for a momentum changer! Where is the love for Hoquiam their 3-0 and beat Hockinson and Riveridge. Please consider them as a a force to be reconned with.

Hoquiam is tough only at home. I will comment no more about that. But I do agree how did Elma make it??? Centralia is on a roll 5-0 I think. With Ron Brown's 50th season watch out. Mark Morris should be #1. And 1A Winlock at 10? They will be state champs. They are killing everyone, and I witness a beating of two good AA programs also. Is it true only coaches from a select few vote on this poll?

Yea they may be tough at home but they still beat the number 4 team in the state and haven't lost yet. So you can make a good case that Hoquiam should be ranked.
