The Prep Blog
The preps blog is designed to fill in the gaps of our high school sports coverage, providing insight into some of the stories and projects we are pursuing, and to serve as a forum to talk about some of the significant high school sports stories happening in our community.

Doug Pacey joined The News Tribune in 2007 after covering prep sports at The Bellingham Herald for five years. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1998 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 2002. E-mail Doug.

Decatur locked up the West Central District's No. 3 seed, beating Curtis 68-58.

Gators guard Marcus Tibbs broke the game open at the start of the fourth quarter. Leading 46-44, Tibbs slammed home a missed 3-pointer and on the next possession Cam Schilling hooked him up with an alley-oop, forcing Curtis to call a timeout to quell Decatur's momentum.

Vikings guard Marquise Doss hit a 3-pointer aftet the timeout to make it, 48-47, but Decatur's Terrell Williams countered with a trey of his own keeping the Gators in front.
