The Prep Blog
The preps blog is designed to fill in the gaps of our high school sports coverage, providing insight into some of the stories and projects we are pursuing, and to serve as a forum to talk about some of the significant high school sports stories happening in our community.

Doug Pacey joined The News Tribune in 2007 after covering prep sports at The Bellingham Herald for five years. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1998 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 2002. E-mail Doug.

The Seventh Annual WIAA/WIBCA Basketball Combine will take place April 25-26 at Bellevue Community College.

The 16-team tournament draws players and teams from around the state. Teams from Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Yakima/Tri-Cities, Olympia, Northwest Washington and Southwest Washington will compete.

The cost is $75 per player and includes a jersey and three-game guarantee. For more information, Tacoma-area players should contact Curtis coach Tim Kelly; Olympia-area players should contact River Ridge coach Jeremy Landram; and Seattle-area players should contact former Mercer Island coach Ed Pepple. Shadle Park coach Tim Gaebe and Pepple are the combine directors.
