How to do the Puyallup Fair
• Dates: Sept 5 - 21.
• Hours: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday
• Admission: $10 adults, $8 seniors (62+) and youths (6-18), free 5 and younger. Advance discount tickets locally at Safeway and Columbia Bank. Season pass for $49.99 at Costco stores in Puyallup, Tacoma, and Federal Way.
• Transportation: Pierce Transit “Fair Express” for $3 round trip from Tacoma Community College, Tacoma Dome Station, Downtown Tacoma (10th & Commerce), South Hill Mall (SE corner near Meridian), Bonney Lake Park & Ride, Sumner Sounder Station, Lakewood Towne Center (behind Target), I-5/Hwy. 512 P&R (Saturday and Sunday only). • Parking: $10 a day in official lots Monday through Friday. $12 on Saturday and Sunday.

If cooking or baking is your cup of tea, then clear your calendar so you can enter some food contests at the 2007 Puyallup Fair. Even if you’ve never entered before, you have the chance to dazzle the judges, and walk away with the blue ribbon!
To review all rules and regulations, download the premium book, available online at www.thefair.com. Click on Puyallup Fair, then Things to Do. Click Exhibit Entries, Home Arts for all cooking contest rules. The premium book is only available online.
The following contests do not have a pre-registration:
Dillanos Coffee Biscotti Contest – You can have bragging rights if you create the best recipe for biscotti to dip in your Dillanos coffee. First place winner receives $100, second place $50, and third place $25.
Deliver to Home Arts Dept.: Wednesday, Sept. 5 between 9 am and 3 pm
Dillanos Best Quick Bread Coffee Cake Contest – Create the most flavorful quick bread coffee cake you’ve ever made, and the blue ribbon could be yours! First place honors is $100, second place is $50, and third place is $25.
Deliver to Home Arts Dept.: Wednesday, Sept. 5 between 9 am and 3 pm
Fleischmann’s Yeast Baking Contests –
• 1st Category: BAKE FOR A CURE™ - For every entry, ACH Food Companies will contribute $10 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Themes and decorations encouraged for your recipe using Fleischmann’s Yeast. First place receives $150, second place receives $75, and third place $50. All three winners also receive a ribbon, an award certificate and an apron.
• 2nd Category: 1-DISH BAKE AND RISE – The best 8” x 8” 1-dish recipe using two envelopes of Fleishmann’s RapidRise Yeast. Entry must not require refrigeration. The first place winner receives $100, a blue ribbon, an award certificate and an apron.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship – Create your most decadent chocolate recipe for a
dessert or a treat, and you could win $150 for first place, $50 for second place, or a gift basket for third place. Each winner receives a gift basket, ribbon, apron and award certificate. PLUS: An additional Ghirardelli prize will be awarded to one randomly selected contest entrant.
Deliver to Home Arts Dept.: Monday, Sept. 10 between 5 pm and 7 pm
Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust Fruit Pie Championship Contest – Use the brand new rolled (not folded) Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust and create a blue ribbon-worthy fruit pie. The first place winner will also be in the running to receive a $1,000 award selected from all the first place winning recipes from Pillsbury’s contestants nationwide.
The Puyallup Fair first place winner receives $200, a commemorative gift, ribbon, award certificate and Pillsbury apron. Second place receives $100, and third place $50.

Salsa Showdown – Bring your taste bud tingling, healthful, easy to prepare, intensely flavored fresh mixture of vegetables or fruits, herbs and spices. First place is $100, second place $50, and third place $25.
Deliver to Home Arts Dept.: Thursday, Sept. 13 between 5 pm and 7 pm
Wilton Decorated Cake Contests (Professional and Amateur) – Showcase your cake decorating talents by creating a memorable cake. In the professional category, first place takes home $100, second place $50, and third place $25. In the amateur category, first place takes home $100 and a Wilton Yearbook of Cake Decorating and a certificate, second place $50, and third place $25, and each of the three winners will also receive a choice of Cupcake Fun, Tiered Cakes Book, or Cake Decorating Basics (DVD).
