The Ravens linebacker may have been the most humorous opposing player we interviewed this season. Chad Johnson was pretty good, but Scott was very animated. Here are a few examples:
On the flag he threw into the stands against New England…) “That’s the best question you can come up with? That was four weeks ago man, what do you do read a column and recycle questions? The reason I through the flag, it was just a combination of emotions. Feeling like you had won the game four times in a row, the calls didn’t go your way, at that point it just felt like what we had worked for so hard, and something that we could have grabbed onto to maybe have salvaged some type of respect and dignity, from the league and for ourselves, was all taken in 1:40 seconds. I never could have done what I did as a role model. You always have to keep your cool no matter what your circumstances, that’s what I preach to the kids. Is that mature enough for you?"
(On if Shaun Alexander has lost a step…) “Does it look like Shaun Alexander’s lost a step? I think they were saying the same thing about a guy like that who was in Baltimore that’s having a great season in Cleveland (Jamal Lewis). I’ve heard that story before, I’m not buying that piece of cheese.”
(On facing a similar defense…) “I thought we ran the same defense you guys run? Kelly Gregg is what 5’11? You guys need to put in your paper that the biggest snub in the world was Kelly Gregg not making the Pro Bowl. I’m tired out watching this guys make play-in and play-out and don’t go to the Pro Bowl. If you guys put on that film, any film, pick a game, I don’t even want to pick out his best game. I want you guys to pick out any game, put on the film, and watch Kelly Gregg never get beat, always beat his man, always beat his double team, and sack the quarterback. Watch that, he had 13 solo tackles this week, and he’s not the best lineman in the league? That’s a joke. But sometimes, when you car doesn’t look as good as everyone else’s, nobody want to buy it. A lot of cars look good but the engine sucks. Maybe if he was stretched out three more inches it wouldn’t matter. He wouldn’t have to make have the plays that he makes to get the respect that he deserves.”
