The Washington Redskins did not practice today, holding a walk-through instead. We talked about this on KJR this morning, but the Skins have a very light week, their only real practice being held on Thursday. They fly Friday. Deion Branch and Niko Koutouvides were the only players who did not practice today. Though Shaun Alexander was on the injured list as full participation, citing his wrist, Matt Hasselbeck was not placed on the report. He had the same amount of participation (full) on Wednesday as he did Tuesday. Mike Holmgren spoke about Shaun Alexander and his selflessness during his press conference: I think he's had more success in the last three or four, three weeks. He's running with a little more confidence, I think. His wrist, they're doing some different things with his wrist as far what he's wearing. While I never realized I spoke with Julian Peterson after practice because Peterson grew up in southeast DC, a big Redskins fan. He said he is a fan of them every other time they play, but obviously not this week. His family, however, said they want him to do well but are rooting for the Skins. Josh Wilson also grew up just outside DC, but he said he was a Detroit Lions fan because of Barry Sanders. He worked at FedEx Field as a teenager, selling concessions, and said his family too is rooting for Washington to win. Ellis Wyms will be playing both defensive tackle and Defensive end with Baraka Atkins out, but said there is not much difference in the two positions, one just happens to be closer to the ball. He has done it some this year, and has done it a lot in previous years, so it is no big deal to him. He also said he spoke to Atkins, who is bummed about his ankle injury keeping him out. But Wyms reminded him he is a rookie with a long future, so stay positive and rehab properly.

No love for Josh and Peterson from their families? C'mon! You know those so called "friends" and family members will be on the Hawks band-wagon come Sunday. I'm glad you asked those questions, Frank.
I wonder if Niko will play, we could use him to tackle Randle El and those other guys. Also, good info on when the Redskins practice, fly, etc. They'll probably get into Seattle in the afternoon on Friday. So I need to bug the rooms in their hotel by then. But Frank, since we can't download your audio, can you share with us why they aren't holding a normal practice today? This is yet another advantage for an East Coast team. They can fly out the day before, and their bodies will be fine come Saturday. It'll be like a night game for them with a 4pm kick-off. They'll be jacked up and ready by then. Whereas there is no good plan for the West Coast teams going out the day before. The earliest they could get to the East coast by leaving the day before, assuming a 7am Seattle departure, is 3 or 4pm. Anyhow....the true advantage is in the home stadium and not traveling.
Good q's Frank. That stuff no one could know but you because you asked the questions most people only fleetingly think about.
Good stuff. Holm looks good. The team will be flying around this Saturday, and playing for their playoff lives. SA's attitude is professional and provides a great locker room environment. If they want to use SA more, they will have that opportunity this Saturday, and if they rush more than 100 yards, we should win the game and Hass should take care of the rest. My only question to Holm would have been about Marshall and would he go back to his conservative mode which at times have bitten this team badly. When we get sacks we win. I hope that Marshall lets the dogs loose this Saturday, and keeps Kearney on the outside not on the inside where he has proven ineffective this season.
Alls I can say that if my son was blessed enough to play in the NFL but happened to be playing for a team that I did not usually cheer for, that I would root for the team my son was on, regardless. Even if he was a Cowboy or a Bronco (perish the thought) knowing our whole lives we have been Seahawk fans, I could not bring myself to cheer against him.
Loved what Holmy said about Shaun. Ever think what it must have been like to be in Shauns' shoes wanting to do better but having an injury that has kept him from performing at top level. Then to have the added pressure of disgruntled fans booing him from the stands? He has looked great the last few outings. Here's to every single 'Hawk bringing it come Saturday. Wish we could be in the stadium with the rest of you who will be. For all who represent the Seahawks from Montana: We should find a central location to meet up someday (hopefully in the near future) to cheer on our Team.
