First of all, Deion Branch has what Mike Holmgren said he thinks he is a pretty serious knee injury. He will have an MRI tomorrow and then go from there, depending on the outcome. Also, Josh Scobey broke his fibular and will have to have surgery to repair it. As John Clayton pointed out to me, both injuries happened on or around the 19-yard line.

The postgame locker room had this feel: We're diappointed, but we just got smacked by a better team. Hats off to the Packers for playing a really good football game.

[More:]

Everybody said the weather was a factor -- but they couldn't use it as an excuse. Matt Hasselbeck said he had trouble seeing people at times. Nate Burleson said he either could not see the ball clearly all the time, or on punt and kickoff returns he was always worried about a snow flake going in his eye while he was looking up. Holmgren said he thinks the snow negated Seattle's one big advantage, their speed and quickness. He said he couldn't remember a time when he lived here that the weatherman was more wrong in his prediction.

Holmgren said he thought that while Brett Favre was good -- "vintage" was a word regularly being tossed around -- it was the rushing game and Ryan Grant that made the difference. That, and the fact that the defense did not lay a hand on Favre. Patrick Kerney said he knew he was going to get double- or triple-teamed but he still expected to have more of an impact. Of his roughing the passer penalty, Leroy Hill said, "Well, it is Brett Favre."

Darrin Beene said he spoke to Marcus Pollard in the locker room and Pollard said, "Those are plays I normally make." He shook his head. "I'm having a really tough time coping right now."

On the play where the spot was challenged and reviewed by the refs, Hasselbeck said the whole thing was a joke and Holmgren said he simply asked the refs, "If they are short by three inches for a first down, and you respot it four inches ahead, why do you even have to bother re-measuring." He insinuated that to him it seems a little unbelievable that looking at a television camera is precise enough to know exactly where to spot it four inches ahead. Still, with the way the Packers were moving the ball, it probably didn't make a difference.

Rocky Bernard said he sensed that Green Bay was nervous to start the game, probably because it had a bye week last week, the reason Seattle jumped to a 14-0 lead. After they got going, though, Seattle could not stop them.
