I know everybody is waiting anxiously for an update on Mike Holmgren and his status regarding retirement or coming back. There should -- and I stress "should" -- be some sort of announcement by 2 or 3 this afternoon, I am told, but that is not a guarantee. I have calls in to Mike's agent, though those have not yet been returned. I will let you know something as soon as I know something.

Frank I just want you to know that my happiness for the next few months depends solely on what you will report today.

I'm so nervous. Come back Holmy!!
PhilKenSebben @ 11:13 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Oh man, I sure hope Mike is not ready to go. This team is not past it's prime, with a bit of tinkering, This team could be there.
airbags @ 11:18 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email

come on, holmy - you don't really want to leave matty in MORA'S hands, do ya?

at least it's not vick...

we know all the history with green bay and brett fav-ruh and all this, but... face it, mike - the blood runs blue and neon green.

Thank you Frank. I figured it wouldn't be right away this morning, but I'm so anxious to find out what's going to happen! Hopefully Holmgren will be staying.
CYRREEN @ 11:27 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Holmgren for President.

I also hope Holmy comes back for one more year. He deserves one last shot at getting the team he (mostly) built over the hump.
berserker @ 11:31 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008
Holmgren stays Shaun stays.

Holmgren leaves shaun leaves.

Pick your poison

Door number one, Bob.

Ahhh I am sooo nervous... I have a really bad feeling about it... PLEASE COME BACK MIKE!!!!
pwhit44 @ 11:47 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
I wouldn't be shocked if he retires, but I have a strong gut feeling (for whatever that is worth) that they are working out an extension today.

...Maybe.
airbags @ 11:48 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email

shaun can stay... he can stay on the BENCH.

bassnw @ 11:49 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Holmgren is riding off into the sunset.

Per ESPN, the Redskin job was Mora's if he wanted it and the next day he withdrew.

Pretty obvious what happened, and what is about to happen.

It's a new day for the Hawks and I am warily looking forward.

QB_Sneak @ 11:50 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
it's myopic to think that holmgren has anything to do with shaun staying or going. for that matter, it's crazy to think that the Hawks are just going to part ways with him until they have something better.

keep dreamin haters
stumptownhawk @ 11:50 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
I Like Holmy, but I think berserker is right. and god knows I would give anything to not sit in my seat and watch shaun tackle himself again next year.
CYRREEN @ 11:55 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
KJR just reported. Holmgren is coming back for one more year. Press conference to follow.

Go Mike, Go Seahawks.
dahyatt @ 11:58 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
If Holmgren is leaving he sure did a good job of hiding his intentions during his press conference and KJR interview. He didn't sound like a man about to retire...and I had to laugh out loud when he was asked something about what he'd do if he retired, because he seemed stumped by that possibility. He really didn't seem to know what he would do. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part.
seahawks25 @ 11:59 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Cyrreen is correct. ESPN and NFLN are both confirming he is staying. I say he goes one more year and then he is done. Glad to have him back. Anyone who says different is crazy.
SanDiegoHawksFan @ 12:09 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
I'm glad he's coming back, I also agree he's the only coach in the NFL that's willing to give SA another chance = /
ratmanhawkeast @ 12:15 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Thank you Holmgren. We needed you one more year. New headquaters, overseas game? Oh so close in the NFC. Lets Roll. Go Seahawks! Good day! Good news.
klm008 @ 12:29 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Wish to hear about an extention to 2010.
Regis @ 13:18 - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 Email
Did no-one even once consider that "riding off into the sunset" refers to Holmgren hopping on his motorcycle when he gets to Arizona? Why did it automatically mean he was retiring...as now appears not to be true at all?

And what kind of a source is KOREN ROBINSON??? Are you sure he was even sober? Are you sure he wasn't misremembering the bartender kicking him out?
