Here is a link to today's Washington Post story regarding the Redskins' pursuit of Jim Zorn. The story says Zorn headed back to Mobile, Ala. to be with Tim Ruskell after interviewing with the Skins. ESPN however is reporting that the Redskins are not expected to name a coach until after the Super Bowl because they want to interview some of the assistants on the two teams in the game. There is speculation all over the internet that the Seahawks are going to promise Zorn the Seahawks' offensive coordinator job next season in order to keep him around.

GooD! They should. I think it would be great to have Mora as Coach and Zorn as Offensive Coordinator. Keep some consistency and use our existing talent that has been waiting in the wings.. I am curious about what would happen to Marshall and Rhodes next year..

Frank where are you getting this information? Name sources please. I hope it is true but would like to know the reliability of your internet sources.
How could Ray Rhodes be a HC again? Doesn't he have too many health problems? Not too smart.
At any rate Frank, can you get a Matt Hasselbeck quote on the Jim Zorn situation? I'm going through funny Matt Hasselbeck quote withdrawal since the season ended.
HawksFan77 - Scout, Inc. has an article titled "Rhodes to Leave Seahawks for Texans?"
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Ray Rhodes, Seattle's former defensive coordinator and more recent defensive assistant, is close to an agreement that will see him working with defensive backs in some capacity for the Houston Texans. Rhodes is a native of Mexia, which is less than 200 miles from Houston. (http://sea.scout.com/2/722916.html)
Texans want Rhodes but not for HC or even Defensive Coordinator. Hard to believe he would leave the Hawks and work with only defensive backs. Sounds like a demotion to me...but if his off-season home is near..
I am baffled by the ourcry over Zorn. WHat in the world makes you guys think he can be an offensive coordinator--let alone a better one than Gil Haskell?! Matt still has some bad habits that Zorn probably should have trained out of him, so its not like he is some miracle-worker qb coach. I like Zorn too, but I dont see any proof that he is unreplaceable at qb coach, let alone our next OC. It seems to me most of your reason for keeping him is sentimentality--and that aint a good reason to turn the offense over to a guy!

Would like to hear that Hawks pick up a "special projects" coach, one who can give Holmgren the solution so Hawks D can play as well at other venues as they play at home.
how much say does a HC have for his staff?
i thought the HC had more say in these kinds of decisions. meaning, if the plan is for mora to take the HC job after holmy in 2009, wouldn't he be the major decider as to who his coaches are? can the front office say "you're the HC, and you must have zorn as OC and marshall as DC, like it or not."? not that any of it would play out that way. but one usually hears about a new HC coming in and bringing guys he likes along, shaking things up, to make the org reflect him, rather than trying to fit himself into the existing org. i guess that's a long way of asking, "can the seahaks front office really promise anyone future coaching jobs before a new HC is chosen?"
Frank, can you (or any one) provide any insight to the role of the OC in the Seattle program? I know Holmgren handles the play calling, and I assume the OC assists heavily in pregame prep/game plan...any clarity on what else the OC is responsible for?
I assume the front office can do what they want, but my feeling is if they do promise the OC job to Zorn that they will let Mora choose the rest of his staff, I dont see any reason why they would promise anything to any of the other assistants past this year, unless to get a big name O line coach it will take a multi year contract? Just a guess though
That draw in our Super Bowl year against Washington in the play-offs with Mack Strong was a stupid call. Damn long runs! I wish we would have thrown an incomplete pass so we could have hopefully lost (then we wouldn't have had to go through the agony of the Pittsburgh loss).
That would be really interesting if the Seahawks took the approach that Dallas did last off season and Washington apparently is this off season, of hiring an offensive co-ordinator before naming a head coach. I'm speaking of the 09 season, but if Mora went to UW, that would mean whoever came in as HC would already have his offensive co-ordinator chosen. I have no problem with it, probably no one here would, just wondering about the new coach. If Mora became HC, with Zorn as OC, I sure hope we could get Singletary as DC if some time is not smart enough to make him a head coach.
