Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell confirmed Shaun has been unconditionally released. He said the delay in Shaun's release came about because both sides agreed they wanted Alexander to be healthy when he was released. Ruskell said he told Alexander all along that this was a possibility, but they wanted to wait to make sure he was healthy before they made a firm decision. He had his physical today and was told he was fully healthy.

Ruskell said the decision was predicated on the team's promise to revamp and revitalize the running game. He said they are happy with the signings of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett but that they still may do something in the draft to address the running game.

Ruskell said they have not yet decided if Alexander is going to be designated a June 1 cut or not. "We are still batting that around, but we are fine either way," Ruskell said.

Ruskell said he hopes that he is the GM when Alexander's name goes up on the Ring of Honor. Ruskell also said Shaun has given him every indication that he wants to continue to play and wants to prove that he still can play.
