Seahawks Insider

It is a cool and rainy Seattle-type day in New York this morning. ESPN just showed a “live” outdoor shot of a sunny Radio City Music but don’t let that fool you.

The Seahawks were on the clock twice in the first round. “Bitter Sweet Symphony” from The Verve and Pearl Jam’s “Even Flow” were played as they segued to the Seattle pick. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from Nirvana was played before the trade. The first round was done in record time, due to the new reduced times teams get to make their pick. Roger Goodell has his subordinates announcing the also-rans.

[More:]

After the first round ended, the seats up front thinned out, allowing us to get right up to the action. Ryan chatted up the NFL floor producer for a long time. He is always trying to arrange a way to get Seahawks fans on TV. Security is tight, but they are reasonable. If you ask to take a photo, they usually let you. It is a first-class experience all the way.

Marshall Falk ran by us. He pushed Ryan out of the way as he was trying to avoid fans (Ryan says that he will never wash his right shoulder again). Looked like a turbo bathroom break. Romeo Crennel was the only NFL Head Coach at the Draft and he was there from the first to the last pick on Saturday. We saw Matt Mosley and Jay Glazer running around, blogging and doing interviews. There were about four rows of media bloggers at the draft. Ryan managed to sit with some of them for a few minutes but didn’t get any inside info.

On TV, the trades seem like a big deal, but we just find out about them from the PA system, and get no analysis. We can listen to the ESPN or NFLN broadcasts on the radios, but most of the fans took them off after the first few picks and started doing their own analysis. The fans here are very passionate and very knowledgeable. Some of playing a fantasy draft game.

Our fashion note from Saturday: Bill Belichick was being interviewed on TV by Steve Mariucci. Belichick was wearing a suit, with a pink shirt and tie. Barely recognized him. Looks like he lost the ultimate bet. By bet, I mean the Super Bowl. Best dressed reporter: Deion Sanders. Most make-up applications: Jaws or Mariucci (tie).

Our “you had to be there” note from Saturday: The room was pretty dead near the middle of the second round. Barry White’s “Can’t get enough of your love” was playing on the PA system. Chris Berman got up on the ESPN set and started dancing. The whole room noticed, and danced too. Kind of funny, but again, you had to be there.

Why is Maryland's DT Dre Moore still on the board after pick 113?

Deion Sanders supposedly wears a different suit every day. Once said to Rich Eisen "If you wear a suit more then once you outwear it. That is bad fasion Rich."

"“Bitter Sweet Symphony” from The Verve "

OMG, that was the song they played as the hawks ran onto the field at the SB- foretelling the debacle to follow! Obviously the NFL making fun of the hawks, it isn't even a Seattle band......
