You asked for it, you got it. Here are some photos taken by Jim Bryant of the Associated Press today at the new Virginia Mason Athletic Center:

This is the indoor field, housed in what looks like a Boeing hangar.

This is the outdoor field with the VMAC behind it.

This is the indoor workout pool for injured players. There is even a treadmill under the water, and there is a place below for the trainer to monitor the player underwater.

This is the locker room giving you the bird.

Today's workout, with Lake Washington in the back.

Now that's fast!

Thanks for the pics

The way things are going this year, that pool is going to be very crowded.

Sweet pics. And my season finally showed up today!

Time for some football!

Now if the lines would get healthy, I'll start feeling better.

I am surprised of the lack of Favre discussion.
But today has to be a sick, sick feeling for Packers fans. Man, can you imagine it. I am sort of sick to my stomach because in the early 90's, I did, at one point, own a packers Parka. It was a Starter Parka, yes. This is circa 1992-93, dark days as a hawks fan. But I remember basically, the only reason I had that parka was because of Brett Favre. It has to feel like death when your franchise QB is un-retired and playing for the NY Jets. (At least better than Bears of Vikes). Man, oh, man. I am very truly sorry to the Packers fans.

As a Seahawk, for life (despite the early 90's, sorry), I hope that never happens with our franchise QB. Matt Hasselbeck, please please learn from Favre as you did in the past, stay a Seahawk forever (and I hope you play until you are at least 38), because we will love you even more.

People around here are smart enough to not buy into Favre's ego-driven crapfest. I wish ESPN would have just walked away. They are as bad as any of the tabloids now. They thrive on tabloid garbage and that's all the Favre story is. I can't wait to watch him suck in New York. It should be enjoyable.

Orogenic - personally, I couldn't care less about Brett Favre. Sure, he was a great player and is a future HOFer but the way he has treated the Packers organisation - and, more importantly, their fans - is both selfish and arrogant.

The guy has basically strung the Packers along for the last 3 or 4 seasons, always allowing rumours [often fuelling them himself...] that he was about to retire in the off-season. When he eventually did take the decision to retire, his ego wouldn't let him follow through with it. For Brett Favre, it has always only ever been about himself. SharkHawk is 100% correct - this entire episode has been 'ego-driven' and I don't blame Ted Thompson & the Packer organisation for refusing to be held to ransom by any player, even one as great as no.4.

The last couple of months have really diminished the legacy of Brett Favre in my opinion... unless of course, he does somehow, by some divine miracle, lead the Jets to a Superbowl win....
BobbyK @ 08:04 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
...it would be fun to pound the Packers in the NFC Championship Game and then beat the Jets in the Super Bowl...

That would be a great way for Holmgren to end his career. Beat his former franchise & his former star QB.
onewalker @ 08:37 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008
In the last picture, why are the five yard areas in alternating shades of green? That seems different enough from the playing conditions to affect game-day performance. The indoor field does not seem to alternate like that. Is it perhaps just an artifact of the angle of the photo itself?
Hawkfan1951 @ 08:49 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
Don't be surprised next year if Seattle has it's own Favre/Packer-like situation with Mike Holmgren. He wants to be a GM again. All it will take in GB will for this years team to NOT make the play-offs and the Coach and GM, and probably the QB there will be GONE! MH has been there before, knows the team and the town.

OR.... (and I thnk this more likely) MH COULD go back to the 48ers as GM/Coach. The Seahawks could have to play MH twice a year with OUR HOF-bound "Most Valuable Coach."

Frank - I don't know if it's been asked or not - but why is the Seahawks practice facility called the Virginia Mason Athletic Complex instead of just the Seahawks training facility? Did 1st and Goal sell the naming rights? I assume they did, so why would Virginia Mason want to be associated with a football training complex?

Just curious.

Favre, goes to Harlem

Thanks for the photographs.

More please! How about a few daily pictures with practice?

So do Hawks play against Jackson or Favre friday?
SupaFreak @ 12:39 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
Favre is with the JETS, not the Vikings, klm008. Furthermore the Jets would have to give up 3 1st round picks if they traded him to the Vikings, according to the contract. So it's Jackson they will go against, who cares about Favre?
rramstad @ 12:42 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
Two bits.

I suspect the five yard alternating green is simply the groundskeepers mowing the grass in alternating directions. It's done a lot at stadiums with natural grass.

VMAC is VMAC because VM paid $$ for the naming rights, and uses their partnership with the Seahawks for all sorts of promotional deals, including commercials.
derekyoung @ 15:53 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
I haven't seen many other practice facilities, but this place looks like it's on top of the pile. Do players actually see this sort of thing and make decisions based on wanting to play there?
Mscerra @ 23:09 - Thursday, August 7th, 2008 Email
onewalker, That is simply the blades of grass laying in different directions. The grass is cut that way for effect, it looks good for TV and from high above, and is barely noticeable while on the field.
