Today's links, and a reminder that the Arizona-New Orleans game is on TV tonight, 5 p.m. on ESPN.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks new practice facility, the VMAC (Virginia Mason Athletic Center) opens to rave reviews according to Frank Hughes.

In this story Scott Johnson of the Everett Herald discusses the adversity Mike Holmgren faced during his 10 years as head coach in Seattle, including the passing away of his mother Barbara and good friend, defensive coordinator Fritz Shurmur in 2002.

Associated Press reporter Tim Booth also writes about the new practice facility here.

For those who want to get a look at Brett Favre in a Jets uniform, he’ll play against Seattle on Dec. 21, as New York plays against NFC West teams this season.

An update on former Seahawk and current Carolina Panther D.J. Hackett, who will start the first two games of the season with Steve Smith suspended.

San Francisco 49ers

J.T. O’Sullivan gets the start on Friday over Alex Smith and Shaun Hill as the Niners take on the Raiders in Oakland.

Head coach Mike Nolan had this to say about his decision:

“I have a lot of familiarity with the other two players,” Nolan said. “J.T. O’Sullivan has done a very good job as the other guys have, but yeah, more than anything else, I want to see him in a game situation.”

Another story, this one in the San Francisco Chronicle, where tight end Vernon Davis claims he belongs among the elite tight ends in the league, even though his numbers do not warrant the lofty comparison at this point.

Arizona Cardinals

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic outlines the Cardinals’ strategy for evaluating players heading into tonight’s preseason game against New Orleans. The game will be televised tonight at 5 p.m. on ESPN.

Kurt Warner might not play tonight in order to give a rusty Matt Leinart a few more snaps.

The Cardinals also will take a look at safety Antrel Rolle as a kick returner.

St. Louis Rams

The Rams and Titans get physical during a controlled scrimmage between the two teams in Nashville.

And Rams rookie defensive end Chris Long looked good in one-on-one passing drills against the Titans.
