HEAD COACH SCOTT LINEHAN

(Opening statement…) We just had a couple injuries. Tony Pittman sprained his lower leg, he was unable to return. It happened on one of the special teams plays. It might have been the opening play. So we will check it out tomorrow. Richie Incognito sprained his knee. We will do the MRI tomorrow but I think that we have an idea that it is something that he will be able to work through. Other than that that is really it.

(On how the game got out of hand so quickly…) Well you were probably at the same game I was at. They were able to pretty much do what they wanted to do in the first half in a number of areas. We haven’t been able to stop the run or the big plays in the running game, which seems to be an over and over thing. These big chunks of yardage that teams are getting on us is alarming. Its not like it is a new thing, it was alarming the first week, alarming the second and alarming again. You can’t win in the National Football League and give up that kind of yardage over the course of a game. You might have a bad quarter or bad series but to consistently do that over the course of a game it is going to be tough to slow anyone down.

[More:]

(On if Coach Linehan is acknowledging that this is the way that it is going to be…) No! I acknowlege that it is pretty bad. The way that it is going to be… no. We are going to get ready to play next week’s game and it’s got to be a lot better than the first three.

(On what is the cause of the offensive struggles…) The first couple we weren’t able to sustain anything. First game we had a number of lost yardage plays that put us in long third downs and we couldn’t convert a third down. We did not convert one. The second game wasn’t a whole lot better. We had a few more drives. We just had our first red zone play of the year today. So if you are playing on that side of the field and you aren’t driving the ball and you aren’t putting points on the board offensively and what is happening on the other side of the ball then you are in for long days and we have had three of them.

(On the spirit of the team…) They are pretty disappointed. The spirit of the team is obvious. Until we play better and win a game it is not going to change.

Have fun with that undefeated Bills team next week Linehan.

Linehan should have never been a head coach in the NFL. He sucked as the Huskies O coordinator. He will be canned.

Looks like he'll be fired, but I hope not. He's been very good -- for us.

I disagree a little bit with swab, I think he is a pretty good O coordinator, but you are right on that he certainly should not be a head coach, I even feel a bit for the guy, not having any playmakers on top of being a bad head coach, and you have the 2008 Rams...
OCHawkFan @ 09:07 - Monday, September 22nd, 2008 Email
He'll be coaching UW next year.
thedude @ 10:12 - Monday, September 22nd, 2008
not having any playmakers??? jackson is arguably a top 5 running back in this league, bulger has been a pro bowler and holt is old but has been a probowler as well. he has skill players, just no skill at drafting which is why his defense sucks ballls.
knutson_11 @ 10:45 - Monday, September 22nd, 2008 Email
He has Jackson who is still not in game shape, Bulger was decent at one time, and Holt is about 150 years old, and when you have Looker playing opposite you at reciever its not a good thing... they by far have to be the worst team in the NFl, and i only blame a portion of that on Linehan.
nighthawk2 @ 15:16 - Monday, September 22nd, 2008 Email
What makes anyone think Linehan has a lot of say in the draft? That's a very dysfunctional front office. From what I saw that team quit on him, they quit in that game, especially Bulger. That guy was really cocky back 4 or 5 years ago when things were going good for them with that greatest show on turf crap, but obviously he's not someone who can handle adversity. He quit yesterday. They have a bad defense, and a bad line overall, but he was only sacked once and he looked the whole game like he was trying to find a place to hide. Fans were really yelling crap at the Rams as the went down the tunnel at the end of the game, and it was payback for those years when they beat us and were really arrogant and showed no class. They deserve it.

I agree with nighthawk, they do deserve it.
