The Seahawks practiced for about 90 minutes this afternoon. Veteran receivers Deion Branch and Bobby Engram both got extensive work during individual and team drills, and both looked ready to go.

In particular, Branch looked explosive and nimble, tight roping the sideline after making a nice catch on an out route, and showing an extra gear as he caught up to a deep ball from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

"I yell at them all day," joked receivers coach Keith Gilbertson on his handling of Engram and Branch. "We’ve got to be smart. But at the same time they look good to me, so it’s not like they’re out there limping around. I mean they look good, and they look ready to go.

"And those guys are professionals and they’re very experienced. So they know when it’s time to throttle up, and when it’s time to pull it back a little bit.”

Branch ran at flanker with the starting unit, with Billy McMullen filling in at split end and Engram working at the slot during three-receiver sets.

Koren Robinson still appeared slowed by an ailing knee and still doesn't appear ready to go at this point.

Free agent pick-up McMullen continues to play well and looked good in practice. Gilbertson said McMullen gives the team and added element with his size.

"We don’t have a lot of big-body receivers," Gilbertson said. "We’re probably smallish in terms of around the league when I see some other teams. His size has helped him on a couple of occasions where he was pressed and he had to come out of a route and his size has been a plus for him."

Holmgren said he will not make a decision on which receivers to activate until later in the week. Who returns punts also will play a role in Holmgren's decision. Holmgren said Michael Bumpus, Seneca Wallace and Bobby Engram are could return punts.

Running back Maurice Morris looked good both running the ball and catching it out of the backfield in his first day back after suffering a sprained knee injury against Buffalo a month ago.

I better not see Bobby Engram returning punts on Sunday.

Potentially bad news for Koren Robinson. Perhaps this is why no one had signed him? Sentimentally, I'd like him to stick around and have a chance, but realistically - if a receiver were to be let go, Robinson would be the 1st one to me. (especially if they like what McMullen brings.)

If the Colbert pick was totally conditional on his being on the team, then maybe he'd be next (because of his larger salary.) Otherwise, Bumpus because he can go back to the practice squad (is that an option for Taylor? If it were, I'd move Taylor over today.)

If Taylor clears waivers, he can be put back on the PS. See Jordan Kent. I hope that's what they do. I'd like to see K-Rob get four weeks to round into shape because he can return kicks at a Pro Bowl level.

didn't they do a physical on krob? why you'd pay a guy that can't get on the field in the first 3 weeks is beyond me.

His knee was as okay as it could be for being arthritic. He could have played and played well with the way it was when he was signed. However, he tweaked it (ie hurt) at practice that Wednesday and hasn't been the same since.

Bye-Bye, Koren. We hardly knew you.

I would have liked to see Koren do well in his return, but I would be surprised if he stays on the team for much longer with his knee problems.

I am also going to teh Meadowlands to watch the Hawks play the defending champs! Where is a good place to meet as there is probably strength in numbers. I am sure the crowd will be rough there.

By the way...THE ONLY WAY WE HAVE A SHOT is if we run and mix it up well, stop Brandon Jacobs and pressure Eli into mistakes. And can we please PLEASE run just one fake punt or direct snap just to see we can. We fell for that crap in the superbowl and seems it helped Miami upset New England..Helped jax win this past weekend. Im just saying our special teams stink so lets try and really outcoach them with a sneeky play or two. Come on Walrus lets throw everything at em to try and win!

WHere are we meetig Hawks Fans???

I don't think the team will cut Courtney unless they are 100% certain he'll get through to the PS. They have invested too much time in him. Why make a move if you don't have to? If you cut a player---that means you are adding one as well. What would they add at this point? What position needs a player added?

At this point- probably no position...but that may change after the weekend.

I too am flying out for the game. I don't know the area at all but would love to see some familiar colors around.

Taylor has proved he's not an NFL caliber receiver. I couldn't care less if he didn't clear waivers, then he can go drop passes and run lousy routes for someone else.
