On Monday, Seattle coach Mike Holmgren said there would be changes this week, and after watching practice this afternoon Holmgren made good on his promise.

However, the player changes were mostly subtle. First, Koren Robinson was in full pads and working in with the first offense, along with a stable of other receivers. It's the first time Robinson, who has been hampered with a sore knee, has made it through an entire practice since Seattle picked him up a few weeks ago.

Robinson said he's getting close to being in playing shape, and wants to make it through practice healthy this week so he can play on Sunday.

"Today was the first step," Robinson said. "I felt good. I'm not where I need to be. I'm not where I'm going to be, but it was definitely a step in the right direction."

[More:]

With Robinson back, the Seahawks worked him at split end along with Billy McMullen and Jordan Kent. Keary Colbert and Michael Bumpus worked at flanker, with Bobby Engram getting work both on the outside and in the slot.

Maurice Morris also returned to action and moved pretty well today. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not practice, but came out midway through with a sleeve on his right leg. Seneca Wallace did not practice.

Defensively, linebacker Leroy Hill missed practice with a sore knee, and D.D. Lewis worked with the first team in place of Hill.

Josh Wilson and Kelly Jennings split time at right cornerback, with Wilson bumping inside when the Hawks worked on nickel defense.

Seattle defensive backs coach Jim Mora said Jennings is more of an outside guy in the team's coverage scheme, while Wilson works better on receivers inside the slot. Mora also said Jennings has been dinged up and they want to get more reps for Wilson, hence the open competition at corner.

"It's a multitude of things," Mora said. "No. 1, we want to get Josh more reps because he's worthy of more reps. No. 2, Kelly had the mild concussion and maybe a little bit of a stinger Sunday on the seventh play and didn't come back then. And in the second game he broke the rib, so he's a little beat up.

"It's a long season. We've got 12 games to go. So we want to make sure we're prudent in how much we put him out there and expose him when he's not 100 percent."

Jennings said his confidence is still high, and that he just has to do a better job bumping guys off the ball in press coverage and battling for jump balls at the end of the route.

"I'm a cornerback," Jennings said. "We've got a Pro-Bowl corner on the other side so I know they're coming my way. So I've got to step up and make a play, or we've got to do something different."

I also talked to Marcus Trufant about his hand injury. He said he's wearing a smaller cast which allows him to use his injured hand more. Trufant said he's hoping to get rid of the cast in two weeks.
