I was emailed this item from the Washington Post's publicity department: Washingtonpost.com’s Len Shapiro is reporting that John Madden will stay home in the Bay Area and sit out Sunday's night's Tampa Bay Buccaneers home game against the Seattle Seahawks in central Florida. This ends a 476 game streak for Madden, who never missed a regular season week in an NFL football booth in 28 years. NBC Sports President Dick Ebersol first broached the possibility of taking a day off this weekend with Madden last spring.

If I was Madden, I wouldn't want to be watching these Seahawks live either...

Is this another form of the bias against the Hawks?

cool. now i'll be able to understand what's being said. of course, that might have something to do with the amount of beer i consume while watching the Seahawks play, here as of late.

LOL, bias. Well, I can't remember any kind words he'd ever really had, for Seattle, just like the rest of the nation anything said about us the 2nd half of the 2005 season came somewhat begrudgedly. When i think of Madden, and the Seahawks, I think of the phrase he's shared with Pete Prisco at least half a dozen times over the past three years, "I've never really been sold on their defense."

Never mind that nobody, including the coaches & players themselves, are sold on them at the moment. So there's that, for bias.

But come on. He's been thinking of missing the Seahawk game since last spring? It's got nothing to do with us. Unless maybe they knew Madden would be out, so scheduled the Bucs-Seahawks for that game. it's the last SNF game before the week off for the World Series, right? So they paired up a couple of good but uninteresting teams together so that the fans in those regions wouldn't complain. There's your bias, right there. Nothing to do with Madden, tho. he's old, and huge, and insists on road travel.

LMAO! Well, if that doesn't speak volumes of what everyone else thinks of the Hawks...surprised they didn't "flex" us out of the Sunday Night game.

Just when I thought nothing good was gonna happen to us this year, I get good news that I won't have to "suffer" Madden's trashing talking about our team. So, I wonder, who are we gonna get to hear trashing talking about our team? Sigh..go hawks(can't even yell it..lol)

The flex rights that they have don't kick in until about halfway through the season. Just found that out today.

Al Michaels is probably breathing a big sigh of relief.

Madden is being replaced by Chris Collingsworth... I'll turn off the TV sound and listen to Raible and Moon!

GO HAWKS!!!
