Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren just completed his weekly Monday Morning press conference.

He said the team will take a look at quarterback Matt Hasselbeck on Tuesday and make a determination if Hasselbeck can practice this week. Holmgren said Hasselbeck , who suffering from a bulging disk that causing a weakness in his knee, must pass some tests before he'll be cleared to go.

"The last medical report is that he's feeling better each day," Holmgren said. "But they have this measuring stick though, before they will allow him to play, that's my understanding. And until he reaches that, then he probably won't play."

Holmgren said if Hasselbeck can't play, then he'll choose from either Seneca Wallace or Charlie Frye to start this week against San Francisco.

Holmgren said special teams played well on Sunday that allowed the team to keep the game close, particularly returners Justin Forsett and Josh Wilson. Holmgren also said Will Herring provided a spark in his return to the field.

He also said he felt the Tampa Bay game was similar to the Green Bay game because in both games Seattle could not capitalize on big plays, or had them taken away because of penalties.

Also, there was some frustration that bubbled over on the sidelines on Sunday, Holmgren said, and he wants to make sure the players stay focused. Holmgren did not elaborate on who the rankled players were or what was being said.

Holmgren said Lofa Tatupu should be fine this week. He talked ot Tatupu right after the game and he's feeling much better, after taking a blow to the head on Leroy Hill's hit against receiver Ike Hilliard.

On the play in the secondary, Holmgren had this to say: "We have young guys playing in the secondary. You kind of know they're going to take their hits and their licks. And so if you think they're good enough you have to keep with them and hang in there.

"We don't have a lot of choices. There's not a lot of corners floating around."

Holmgren also said when the defense calls a blitz they have to get to the quarterback for the sack or at least force a bad throw.

Holmgren said Seattle's 39 offensive plays is a low of a number as he ever remembers having in a game.

Seattle's also 31 in passing offense, and Holmgren said he can't remember a time when they've been less than 10.

On the fumbled snap exchange between Chris Spencer and Seneca Wallace Holmgren said Spencer snapped the ball when Wallace was calling out a change in the pass protection, and not on the called snap count.

Holmgren said he thought the Holding call on Mike Whale that negated a long run by T.J. Duckett was more legitimate than last week's call against Whale.

Holmgren also said the team is not to the point where they will start playing young guys and looking toward the future.
