Jim Mora spoke today -- but not about the UW coaching job. He was asked the question, but his response was: "I'm focused on the Philadelphia Eagles." When the PI's Jim Moore asked why Mora won't address the question and end the speculation, Mora said, "You can call (his agent) Bob Lamonte."
With the weather still so nice, the Seahawks remain outside, though they have re-lined the fields and are now practicing perpendicular to the lake rather than parallel. Winds have been light this week so it has not had that much of an effect on practice, and the special teams field is still running in the same direction.
Lofa Tatupu did not practice again, though he was on the sideline with a play card in his hand. He still is expected to play.
Leonard Weaver also did not practice, and I'm guessing the coaches have to be a little more concerned about his sore foot. After Sunday's game, Weaver was trying to get into the x-ray room and was joking that he would have to break down the door if they didn't let him in. The foot did not appear to be serious as the time, but he has now missed two straight days of practice. Owen Schmitt has been taking his reps.
Darryl Tapp and Lawrence Jackson were moving around today, sharing reps at both ends spots. It'll be interesting to see if they do that during the game or if Tapp stays on the left side. On Wednesday, they just stayed with their respective positions.
Josh Wilson was being interviewed in the locker room when Mike Holmgren walked by and gave him a look like, "Don't let this go to your head." It's pretty funny how much they all kill Josh. Mora was saying that Deon Grant and Brian Russell constantly keep their thumbs on Josh, mostly because he likes to talk a lot. But Mora also said Wilson has done a pretty good job of learning how to be a professional this year. He also talked about Vernon Davis running him down, and he said when they were in D back meetings last week and began talking about Davis, Wilson admitted that Davis was a guy who might be able to beat him in a footrace. "If Josh even comes close to admitting somebody could beat him, you know that guy is fast," Mora said.
Julius Jones said they are focusing on getting the running game going again. He admitted that San Fran played a good game, but he said their success is more about what they do than what an opponent does. (Not sure I agree with that, but I'm not the one carrying the ball.) Interestingly, Jones, who was raised in southern Virginia, said he grew up a Redskins fan (which I can respect). However, he said as he started playing for Notre Dame, he began wanting to play for Dallas and have the star on his helmet, so it was never an issue that the Cowboys and Redskins were such NFL East rivals. I had to end the interview at that point, considering it pure blasphemy.
