Eric D. Williams took over the Seahawks beat and Seahawks Insider blog in December. Williams has covered the Seahawks, Sonics and high school sports for The News Tribune since joining the paper in 2006. Eric lives in Tacoma with his wife and two children.

A Side Trip to CaddyShack

Before we came to Miami, Dave Boling told me that in 1996, he played Rolling Hills Golf Club, which is where they filmed the fantastically perfect movie, "Caddyshack." The course has changed to a private club named Grande Oaks, but I placed a call to the Golf Pro. told him I'd love to play the course and put something on the blog, and he agreed to let me play the course.

As a result, me and my friend Rod Mar, the Seattle Times photographer, set off on Saturday to relive one of the greatest movies of all time. Here is the funny part: As we are in the golf shop chatting up the guy at the desk, Bill Parcells comes shooting in with a pair of sunglasses in his hand, throws them on the counter and says, "These are somebodys." I looked at Rod and said, "Did that just happen?"

Parcells was on the putting green, so I introduced myself, told him why we were in town and explained that we were just talking about him because he holds Mike Holmgren's dream job. "I sure do like Coach Holmgren," Parcells said. That was the extent of it.

I then filmed as much of the experience as I could. Take a look.

Wow, this is the absolute best thing I've seen on this blog this year. Great work! I would have loved to have seen that course. Sounds like a great experience.

Good work Frank. Way to get a freebie out of your credential. My friend used to use his to take his whole family to Disneyland, even though he was a sportswriter. He would just tell them he was working on the travel section that week. :) You should give it a try (if you haven't already). Nothing is funner than free family passes at any place, unless they throw in some free food as well.

Exactly how does Frank and co. playing golf hurt the team? If he had skipped, we would have won, huh? If he had gotten anything out of Parcells it would be have been considered a coup. If you've got 4-5 hours to kill, why not?

Wernie, No one is more critical of Frank on this blog than me, yet even I recognize he has NOTHING to do with the success of the Seahawks. Think about it...

Did you run into Judge Smales? How about Spaulding?
I can't see the video, I'll try and watch it from my other computer later....but heck- was there a pool? You should've chucked a baby ruth over the fence. But then Parcells might have grabbed it right away and eaten it I suppose.

I suppose your experience covering crappy Sonic teams has prepared you for this season...
