This was one of the most bizarre postgames I have seen. Matt Hasselbeck was an absolute space cadet. As most of you know, he is always very thoughtful, funny and articulate. But after coming to the podium more than an hour after the end of the game, he was flighty and seemed confused. On more than one occasion, he said he didn't know how to answer a question -- which he never does. He is usually very well scripted and prepared, but he let fly that the only thing that makes him feel better is that the league will be issuing fines later in the week, and some of the Cardinals players are going to get fined. He did not elaborate, saying only that the film doesn't lie. I have a little video that I will try to post later on his explanation about the last interception, and hopefully in that you can see that his eyes are glazed over and he looks out of it.

When he did answer questions, he said he thought he did OK, but not good enough to win. There was some questions about receivers cutting short routes, but both Hasselbeck and Mike Holmgren said the interceptions were more a case of Hasselbeck trying to force balls into small windows. Rust probably played a role, they both said.

[More:]

More than anything, the thing that came out of the postgame is that Mike Holmgren conceded the season. He said now that they have lost the division, their goals have changed. He did not say what those changes are, but said he will think about them overnight and relay them to the players -- and then us -- tomorrow. The players never really responded to what Holmgren had to say, in part because they don't know exactly what he means. I can only assume that one of the big changes is focusing on playing younger guys more minutes. But the players all said they are going to prepare the way they always do and try to win as many of their final six games as they can.

The defensive players said they went from a zone scheme to a man scheme in the second half and that was the reason they slowed down Kurt Warner. That, and they were able to exert a little more pressure on him. Lofa lamented the fact that he nearly got him twice, and Warner always seemed to get the ball off right before Lofa got there. The one time is when tackle Levi Brown caught a tipped pass and rumbled four yards.

Mike Wahle could have a serious shoulder injury. The right shoulder that he injured has already been surgically repaired, and so there is obvious concern that he re-injured that existing injury. He will get more exams tomorrow and they'll know more then. Marcus Trufant had a concussion.

Deion Branch said he felt pretty good. He said the timing was a little off coming back but his legs feel fine. He said he was very emotional during pregame introductions because it has been such a long time since he played. He dropped to a knee and pointed to the sky (during pregame, not during the interview).

There was no real explanation for the lack of a running game, other than Holmgren saying unlike the Cardinals the Seahawks need to be more balanced to have success.

I'll post quotes and that video as the night wears on.
