I’ll be taking some time off the next couple weeks to recharge the batteries before training camp begins. However, I will continue to post on the blog when Hawks news rises to the surface, including any rookie contract signings, along with updates on the Owen Schmitt situation. I also plan on doing some analysis on Seattle’s struggles on third down both offensively and defensively last season, along with the team possibly using a 3-3 look up front defensively.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com ranks Lofa Tatupu among the top five linebackers in the league.

Brian McIntyre of NorthwestFootball.net takes a stab at predicting what type of contracts Seahawks draft picks Aaron Curry, Max Unger and Deon Butler will sign with about a month left before training camp.

ESPN’s John Clayton takes a look at the proliferation of the Wildcat formation and what teams used it in 2008.

This one is a couple weeks old but still intriguing. Clark Judge of CBS Sports discusses the possibilities of where Mike Holmgren might land when he returns to the NFL, naming San Francisco, Dallas and Seattle. Judge believes this is a make of break season for Hawks GM Tim Ruskell and if Seattle struggles, he could be gone and Holmgren could be headed back to town as the GM. Holmgren has said in past interviews that he wouldn’t mind returning to Seattle, and if given the opportunity he would delegate more. Holmgren also spoke highly of Hawks CEO Tod Leiweke.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports offers this list of the most overrated and underrated players on each NFL team. Prisco picks T.J. Houshmandzadeh as the most overrated. Prisco considers Housh a No. 2 receiver at best. He picks Brandon Mebane as the most underrated.

Speaking of Housh, he recently appeared on ESPN 710 Seattle with Brock and Salk to talk about the upcoming season, and said the key to the team’s success will be how the offensive line plays in 2009. I agree with Housh on this one, although I would add the defensive line as well. I think line play on both sides of the ball will determine how well Seattle does this season. Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett are fast becoming the Rodney Dangerfields of backfield combos heading into 2009. Adrian Hasenmayerof Fox Sports ranks Seattle’s running back situation 30th in the league. Only Arizona and Cleveland are ranked lower.

He ranks Seattle’s quarterback package of Matt Hasselbeck, Seneca Wallace, Mike Teel and Jeff Rowe 21st overall, behind the likes of Carolina’s Jake Delhomme (9th), who threw six picks against Arizona in the NFC playoffs last season, Buffalo’s Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick (12th overall) and Houston’s Matt Schaub, Dan Orlovsky, Rex Grossman and Alex Brink (13th overall). Am I missing something here?
