Here's the list of free agents Seattle plans to sign to fill out their roster, along with the seven draft picks. I believe with the new additions, once everyone is signed, Seattle's roster will be at 77 players. But I'll dig more into that on Monday. Here's the list.

Michael Bennett, DE, Texas A&M
Tony Fein, LB, Mississippi
Dave Philistin, OLB, Maryland
Devin Moore, RB, Wyoming
Andre Ramsey, OT, Ball State
Tyler Roehl, RB, North Dakota State

This is the team's release:

The Seattle Seahawks have placed guard Mike Wahle on injured reserve and signed center Steve McKinney to the active roster, the team announced this morning. Wahle is the third starting offensive lineman to land on injured reserve this season, and sixth opening day starter to land on the list. The team also signed defensive tackle Kevin Brown to the practice squad.

Wahle, signed this past offseason, started all 10 games played this season before suffering a shoulder injury vs. Arizona (11/16).

McKinney comes to Seattle after spending four years in Indianapolis (1998-2001), six years in Houston (2002-07) and training camp with Miami this year. He has played in 143 games with 133 starts at both center and guard. He was originally a fourth-round draft choice (93rd overall) by Indianapolis in the 1998 NFL Draft.

I spoke with Gbaja-Biamila's agent this afternoon, who said he has heard the Seahawks are bringing in three defensive ends this afternoon, but KGB is not one of them. He was released by the Green Bay Packers last week after recording a half sack so far this season.

Tim Ruskell's staff apparently set up these tryouts over the weekend, perhaps knowing the news on Kerney was not going to be good. KGB's agent said he didn't know who the three players are they are bringing in.

John Clayton reported that the Seahawks chose Billy McMullen from among a group of six wide receivers the front office worked out today.

Here is a bio on McMullen, who has played with the Eagles, Vikings and Redskins.

Since they will have only three wide receivers on their roster, along with Seneca Wallace, you have to wonder if the Seahawks plan on signing somebody else now that they have waived Jordan Kent, particularly since McMullen does not have any NFL experience returning punts and/or kickoffs.

Should be interesting to see if Kent, as well as Justin Forsett, clears waivers so that they can be placed on the practice squad.

The other five receivers who they worked out, according to Clayton and NFL.com, were Samie Parker, Mark Bradford, Devale Ellis, Mike Hass and Michael Gasperson. Joe Horn worked out in Tennessee today and Koren Robinson and Reche Caldwell were not contacted by the Seahawks.

With DeMichael Dizer placed on the IR, the Seahawks signed center Ben Claxton. He was in Oakland's training camp last year and got hurt, and he played in Atlanta under Jim Mora two years ago.

He said he was getting ready to take his LSAT when the New England Patriots called. While he was sitting in the terminal in Charlotte, his agent called and said if things didn't work out in New England that Seattle was interested. When he got to New England, they already had signed somebody else. He still worked out, then hopped a plane to Seattle. He said he was going on about four hours of sleep. He played college ball with Chris Spencer at Ole Miss, where he wants to go to law school when his football career is over.

The Seahawks released former UW WR Anthony Russo, who has missed the last few days of mini-camp with some undisclosed injury, and signed Trent Shelton.

Shelton, 6-0, 202 pounds, came into the NFL with Indy as a rookie free agent, spending the first two weeks of the 2007 season on the practice squad before being released. Apparently the team just ripped Russo's name off the back of his jersey and velcroed (sp?) Shelton's because Shelton is wearing the same No. 17 that Russo vacated.

Here is a post in a University of Hawaii fan blog that says the Seahawks are interested in defensive tackle Mike Lafaele, though it does admit the Seahawks don't have room at the spot right now. Here is the whole post.

The Seahawks have added defensive tackle Larry Triplett, linebacker Wesley Mallard and quarterback Dalton Bell. Here is the team's release:

The Seattle Seahawks have signed defensive tackle Larry Tripplett, Wesley Mallard and claimed Dalton Bell off waivers, the club announced today.

Originally drafted in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft (42nd overall) by Indianapolis, Tripplett played four seasons for the Colts before signing with Buffalo in 2006. In 92 career games, he has registered 195 tackles, 8.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one interception. Tripplett, 29, attended the University of Washington.

A native of Hinesville, Georgia, Mallard attended the University of Oregon before being drafted by the New York Giants in the 6th round of the 2002 NFL Draft. Mallard has played in 59 career games, mostly on special teams.

Bell signed as an undrafted free agent with Carolina in 2007 before being released after training camp. Green Bay signed Bell on September 11, 2007 before releasing him a week later and eventually signed him again to a future contract on January 23, 2008 before placing him on waivers.

Lindsey is a long snapper the team signed after the regular season. This is really a poor job of writing a story (I'm assuming the TV station's site on which it is posted does not have editors), but there is some mildly interesting information in there if this guy happens to be the team's next long snapper. You have to fight through the grammar.

I am told that Seahawks assistant Jim Mora has withdrawn his name from the race for the Redskins vacancy. Not sure entirely what that means, though it could mean that he knew he was not going to get the job so he pre-empted any announcement from Washington by bailing out in a timely fashion. I'm sure there are other conclusions to which people will immediately jump, as well.

Also, the Seahawks are going to announce on Tuesday (MLK holiday is Monday) a list of between 10-20 free agents that they have signed to future contracts, including some or all of their own practice squad players. Presumably that list will include Zac Alcorn, the tight end mentioned in an earlier post.

There is a story in a paper called the Black Hills Pioneer that reported that the Seahawks signed a tight end named Zac Alcorn to a two-year contract on Monday. I have a call in to the Seahawks to clarify.
