Seahawks Insider

Former Texans QB David Carr is lining up free-agent visits. He is expected to make a trip to Seattle sometime next week. Carr could be a factor for several teams who might be looking for quarterbacks in the draft. The Seahawks have been reluctant to displace Seneca Wallace from the No. 2 role, but landing the former No. 1 overall choice in the draft would presumably do that.

Mike Holmgren would also get a chance to work with a guy who was once considered a franchise quarterback, a no-lose proposition given that Carr struggled in Houston. Carr took a beating as the Texans's starter (249 sacks). He'll be looking to resurrect his career. Perhaps he can find a situation where he can fight for a starting job. If not, a place such as Seattle could make sense. He would provide veteran insurance at the most important position. This would allow the Seahawks to use Wallace at another position, or even entertain offers for him (I'm not saying that is in the works, but it would be more feasible with a veteran quarterback on the roster).

Note: I'm catching a cab to the airport shortly. This will probably be my final blog item of the day.
