The Seahawks have released OL Wayne Hunter (see earlier blog item). Hunter's continuing off-field troubles triggered his release after three seasons with the team.

ANALYSIS: This one was sitting on a tee for Tim Ruskell. The Seahawks' president has taken a hard line against off-field shenanigans. Releasing Hunter might have been a harder decision had Hunter been a veteran starter. But with Hunter's well-documented history of domestic violence, and with his inability to distinguish himself on the field, Ruskell probably saw this as an opportunity to give his public comments some teeth. NFL 101: If you are going to embarrass your own team off the field, you had better be able to embarrass opposing teams on the field.

In an unrelated move, the Seahawks also released OL Kyle Ralph, who participated in the recent minicamp.
