Seahawks Insider

A press release issued in February claimed that Matt Hasselbeck would be among several current and former NFL athletes appearing in a movie. With shooting under way in Florida, the St. Petersburg Times printed a story about the athletes' involvement. We linked to the story, and referred to it in a note that ran at the bottom of a recent newspaper story, crediting the source. Hasselbeck's Web site linked to the St. Petersburg story.

One problem: Hasselbeck had never heard of the movie. He called one of his representatives to ask about the report. The representative called the reporter in St. Petersburg and someone affiliated with the movie. The St. Petersburg Times printed a correction. The production company changed its press release. Cached version here. New version here. Hasselbeck's name wasn't the only one removed. Others: Ahman Green, Joe Jurevicius and Todd Heap.

The script called for Hasselbeck to appear as a biker. I'm hearing he will instead appear this spring as a former Pro Bowl quarterback rehabbing from shoulder surgery.
