The Sounders are back from California, apparently satisfied with the progress that was reflected in their 3-1 record in training games there.
“We’re pleased," coach Sigi Schmid said through a Sounders press release. "From the standpoint of injury wise we’re pretty. Only Ryan Caugherty, one of the trialists, is carrying a little bit of a knee, everyone else is healthy, so that’s good."
The Sounders will get their first workouts at Qwest Field this week, although both are closed to the public. Then they'll make their Northwest debut Friday at the University of Portland. Then they'll return to Qwest next Sunday, meeting the Vancouver Whitecaps in another closed training game.
“The thing I’m not happy is conceding soft goals," Schmid said after the Sounders' 3-2 loss to San Jose on Friday. "As we go into the next phase of training back in Seattle and then on to Argentina, is to keep possession and to do a good job defending in the final third of the field.”
