Where’s the NBA 35-and-older league when you need one? You might be having flashbacks to 1990s with the latest rash of guys in their mid-thirties being courted by NBA teams this week.
Allan Houston, 36, is
the latest sharpshooter is being coaxed out of retirement, possibly landing in Dallas or Cleveland.
Others include 39-year-old Reggie Miller, who is
being wooed by Boston to join its big three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
Afernee Hardaway, 36,
signed for the veteran minimum of $1.2 million to join Miami.
P.J. Brown, 37, who considered retirement, is now looking at four or five teams.
Even former Sonic Shawn Kemp (37 years old) and Charles Oakley (43) are looking at returning to the NBA.
ESPN’s Marc Stein
nicely wraps up all the comeback attempts here.
Not much in Sonics news, except WNBA Phoenix Mercury head coach Paul Westhead
denies rumors he is a candidate for one of the vacant Seattle assistant head coaching positions.
And Seattle rookie
Kevin Durant gives back to an organization he was part of as a kid growing up in the Washington D.C. area.
I still have not heard back from the Gov. Gregoire about scheduling a meeting with Clay Bennett this week to discuss the Sonics arena situation.
I hope to have more news early next week.
