Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Probably the most entertaining stretch of basketball I've seen so far this season. Seattle comes out strong and cuts the Lakers' lead to 69-65. Then Kobe just goes off, scoring the next 10 points for L.A. and pushing the lead back to double digits.

But give Seattle credit for hanging tough. Luke Ridnour has done a nice job of running the offense and Seattle remains within striking distance.

One thing that has been evident so far is Seattle has been willing to continue to grind during games, even when the get down by double digits. We'll see if that happens again tonight.

right now I'm keeping track of it with ESPN's NBA GameCast. It's pretty handy.

If Luke continues to play the way he did in the third it would be no contest between he and Watson. Although they are still working on the half court option it was clear a lot of the offense was running through the post and Wilcox

Just curios Eric, has there been any discussion how the Sonics plan to use Green/Durant down the road? It seems Wilcox may be the best player on this team right now a 2-3-4 combo of Durant Green and Weezy could be very solid.

The game is on TNT if you want to catch the last 5 minutes.

Dang, i wish i knew about it being on TNT earlier. Stupid me.

if you didn't watch on TNT you didn't miss much. at least as far as the commentators are concerned. really dopey .

Sene looked awesome. he was just strong and tough inside the post. at times he was the only Sonic post player who could or would be dominating on the inside. Luke looked great too. Jeff Greeen has lots of promise. so does Durant, of course, but he's got to grow into his body. he's do dpindly, almost frail.

It looked like the Lakers had no problem scoring on our defense. I hope P.J stresses Defense in practice this week.
Because it's something you can never get enough of.

After watching tonight, my biggest question is, Is Robert Swift really that bad? What I saw was more then just a rehabbing leg; he seemed clueless & worthless. I wasn't impressed with Thomas either.

I think PJ had better start preparing himself for Collison at Center with Sene backing him up (who would have thunk that Sene would have turned into a basketball player this quick?).

Our D was awful; made last years Sonics D look good by comparison. On the + side, Luke seems to be thriving in Westhead's system, & I suspect Green & Durant will both mature into nice players about the time the Sups get to OKC.....

Swift didn't look good. Damian kills ball movement everytime he touches it. Wally is capable of giving some good minutes. Wilcox can definitely be our power guys in the low block and great finisher on fast breaks and alley oops. Green and Durant make plenty of blunders but I think that's just inexperience and wanting to show too much. Gelebale definitely needs more minutes and could easlier replace Damian. Durant paid way too much respect to Kobe and was non existent on defense. Luke showed what he's always been capable of when a coach puts trust in him. Call me crazy but Ridnour was the Defensive Player of the Game for the Sonics. Luke's style of defense is way underrated and unappreciated. My starting five after this experiment is:

Luke/watson
Durant/Gelebale/Damian
Collison/Green
Wilcox/Collison
Thomas/Sene/Swift
