Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Tuesday, February 12th, 2008
Posted by Eric Williams @ 09:15:52 pm

They are still located in Seattle, but as Oklahoma City gains momentum in its quest to land an NBA franchise, The Oklahoman columnist Berry Tramel contemplates what name will go in front of the Sonics if the team moves there.

Tramel suggests the Oklahoma City Sonics because voters there would have to approve a $121 million arena upgrade to the Ford Center to lure an NBA team.

Reporters from this same paper attended the Dallas game when Seattle was on the road in Texas a few weeks ago, asking Sonics to introduce themselves to Oklahomans in a "Get to know your new SuperSonics" feature. Most players refused to answer questions for that particular feature.

How about F OKC Sonics? What jerks asking the players questions like that. As if it isn't hard enough having a horrible record that they got to think about the future of the team? Do people in OK have manners?

Oops sorry Eric, didn't mean to pull out the F. :)

No freakin class! I can't believe that reporters would actually do that! I've never really been opposed to OKC getting a team, as long as it's not the Sonics, but now I'm on the edge. It's good to see that nothing else newsworthy is going on in OKC more important then harassing the Sonics about stupid things!

Sounds beautiful to me the Oklahoma City Sonics! The problem is the name can't come soon enough.

There will never be any Oklahoma City Sonics! Seattle can you here me? I'm tired of this ordeal. Open your pockets and keep 'em in town.

Isn't "Sonic" a drive-in food joint found outside the Northwest? Mayber "SupersizedSonics" works better in OKC.

Yes people in Oklahoma have manners ttownport... I love how a few reporters, whom are the same everywhere, allow you to pass judgement on all Oklahomans.
