Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Eric Williams covered the Sonics' last season in Seattle. A Tacoma native, Eric graduated from Mount Tahoma High and the University of Puget Sound.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Tuesday, March 4th, 2008
Posted by Eric Williams @ 05:40:42 pm

According to early reports from Oklahoma City, the $121 million initiative to upgrade the Ford Center is passing handily at 59 percent.

With 12 of 271 precincts counted, the Yes vote is 2439 yes (59.1 percent) and 1,690 no (40.9 percent)

Some news on Robert Swift. He underwent successful surgery to repair the lateral meniscus in his right knee. His knee will be examined in a week, and he'll begin rehabbing in 10 days.

After a spectacular beginning, the Sonics missed their first 15 shots in the second half. And now only lead 51-47 with 1:36 left.

i live in vancouver, wa and thus i get the portland market. last night i was watching KGW and one of the sportcasters was interviewing fatman stern before the blazers vs suns game. the sportcaster asked him about the situation in seattle...all stern can say is 'the city of seattle doesnt care, and they dont want the team...they turned down numerous proposals, there is nothing more that i can do'

how can he expect to expand overseas and allow this to happen to the city of seattle....what a freakin ass clown!

Clay Bennett must have some compromising pictures of Stern.

Seattle turned down "numerous proposals" they were all the same Seattle and Washington giving a lot Mr Personality giving nothing. He can spend money to renovate his arena but ours was not good enough. If he would have come in with the intention of keeping the Sonics here I would say something could have been done. But he never had those intentions.

Why does he not sell the Sonics back and buy the NO team? They can't get a crowd and they are winning, plus they already played there a couple years. Seems like a better fit to me.
