Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Monday, April 14th, 2008

Don't know if you're aware of this story, but NBA Commissioner commented for the first time on the emails the City of Seattle released last week in a conference call today. Here's a quote.

“I haven’t studied them but my sense of it was that Clay, as the managing partner and the driving force of the group, was operating in good faith under the agreement that had been made with (previous owner) Howard Schultz,” Stern said on a conference call today. “His straight and narrow path may not have been shared by all of his partners in their views, but Clay was the one that was making policy for the partnership.”

And you can read the entire story here.

As a democrat, I am onGregoire's email list. I emailed the following to her campaign this evening. I suggest others do the same:

The ONLY way you'll get my vote (& I am a life long Democrat) is a
lawsuit is filed by the state of Washington against Clay Bennett, David Stern & The NBA for breach of contract based on the recent emails; AND if you put significant pressure on Murray & Cantwell to threaten an anti trust investigation against the NBA unless they force bennett to keep
the Sonics in Seattle or sell to Ballmer.

If you do not due both of the above (or find a different SOLUTION), I WILL VOTE 3rd Party. I strongly suspect I am not alone in this.

Thank You,

While I never received any reply from Gregoire's campaign; I'm surprised at how much of my request has occurred. I really do think our Senators should play the anti trust investigation threat card, though.
